Shazam! Director David Sandberg Tweets About Billy Joining The Justice League

Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg responds to rumor that Billy joins the Justice League at the end of The Flash.

When Shazam! released in 2019, it was extremely well received. Fans and critics alike had nothing but praise for the film, calling it an “amazing coming-of-age spectacular,” and the “best DC movie ever.”

Everyone wanted a sequel, and at DC Fandome 2020, that’s what they got. Shazam! Fury of the Gods was officially confirmed, with a release date of June 2, 2023. All of Shazam’s sidekicks from the previous film were confirmed to be returning. Instantly, fans were excited and hyping each other up on social media, speculating what the new film would do.

Earlier, reliable insiders in the film business posted that The Flash was removing Zack Snyder’s films from the DCEU continuity, but that Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Shazam, and Cyborg would still be in the main continuity. Only Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill would be leaving, and Sashe Calle’s Supergirl and Leslie Grace’s Batgirl would become the new Superman and Batman, respectively. Now, the director for Shazam! and Shazam! Fury of the Gods has responded to these comments, and in a very enthusiastic fashion.

If true, this is quite good news for the future of the Justice League. There will be a new Batman and Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and more will stick around, and we’ll have Billy Batson himself as the leader of the Justice League. The future of the DCEU is looking brighter than ever, and hopefully WarnerMedia can keep up with the fans’ desires. Warner Bros. has fumbled the ball quite a bit with DC properties in the past, but with The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom all on the horizon for 2022, there is new hope.
