Meet The Fraggles

Fraggle Rock Back To The Rock

The Fraggles are just hysterical, Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley, and Boober along with everyone else made sure there was nothing less than wholesome G-rated shenanigans. Behind the Fraggle clan lied some truly masterful puppeteers and actors who lent their voices to bring life to Jim Henson’s rich craftsmanship. Among them are, John Tartaglia as Gobo, Karen Prell as Red, Donna Kimball as Mokey, Jordan Lockhart as Wembley, and, David Goelz as Boober. While I may not have been able to see them act in the traditional sense, I know a good performance when I see one, and I’m delighted to say that I have had the privilege of seeing that here.

Each Fraggle embody a piece of childlike wonder. You get adventure from Gobo, he’s just this wide-eyed youth who wants to see what’s out there in the universe, every day is a grand quest for him. Red brings energy with her everywhere she goes, it feels like her heart has infinite battery life. Mokey has imagination, she’s the dreamer, an artist with a wealth of talent and creativity through, paintings, poems, among other mediums. Ultimately, she’s the soul of the Fraggles.

Wembley brings youth, and innocence, he’s close to Red in many aspects, like her he’s energetic and always ready to have fun, but he’s also the youngest which makes him quite impressionable. Then there’s Boober, the odd one out, now I don’t want to say that fear is a childlike wonder but that’s what you get with Boober, He’s afraid of every single thing imaginable. I will not however define him by his feelings of dread, he’s intelligent, thinks ahead, and has potential for greatness.

Along with the return of characters from the original series, there is an ensemble of new characters voiced by celebrity guests, including Patti LaBelle, Cynthia Erivo, Daveed Diggs, Ed Helms, Kenan Thompson, and The Foo Fighters. They’re all wonderful additions bringing their own flavor to nicely compliment the colorful show.

Fraggle Rock Is The Place To Be

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is John Tartaglia’s love letter to childhood, nostalgia and the art of puppetry, better yet, “Muppetry”. If you’re a fan of Muppets, have kids of your own, or just simply feeling nostalgic, you’ll have a hard time not loving this show. Kids would love the Fraggles, many of us already love them, as some of our fondest childhood from watching Fraggle Rock. There’s something beautiful about Fraggles being immortalized in a manner of speaking, parents can now share these treasured characters with their children and watch the grow with fond memories of their own. If we’re lucky, The Fraggles will be around for generations to come.
