Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of the show, so he and I are talking,…. We’re trying to figure out something for season four. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing it we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that”

How Jeffrey Dean Morgan Fits With The Boys

The Boys Season 3

If Morgan joins The Boys, he wouldn’t be the only Supernatural star onboard.  Last season saw Jensen Ackles joined the cast in season 3 to critical acclaim, and naturally Kripke knows that if fans went gaga over Ackles’ appearance, they’d do so again if he could land Supernatural co-lead Jared Padalecki, currently starring on Walker:

“I would put Jared on the show in a heartbeat….”I mean, he’s really busy with his empire over there in Austin, but if it was willing to play, I would put him on the show in a second.”

The brotherly chemistry between Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles helped Supernatural stay spooky on the CW for a whopping 15 seasons from 2005-2020.  Both had previous experience on popular television beforehand, with Ackles having starred in season 4 of Smallville and Padalecki on Gilmore Girls for several seasons, but Supernatural is by far their most well-known entry at this point.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (who portrayed Sam and Dean Winchester’s father John) has spent years taking on prominent supporting roles in films like P.S. I Love You, the 2009 film adaptation of Watchmen, and, most recently, AMC’s ongoing zombie soap opera The Walking Dead.

Isle of the Dead

The Boys has housed an impressive stable of talent from day one, with longtime stars like Karl Urban, Elizabeth Shue, and Giancarlo Esposito alongside rising ones like Karen Fukuhara, Jessie T. Usher, and Antony Starr among many more.  Since its debut in 2019, the show has largely been acclaimed for its dark, satirical take on the superhero genre along with its nuanced characterizations and mature storylines not often seen in superhero films.  The show received several Emmy nominations during season 2 and is currently in its 3rd season on Amazon.   One animated spinoff series of shorts has been produced, titled The Boys: Diabolical, and another live-action series, The Boys: Varsity is set to premiere in 2023.

The prospect of Jeffrey Dean Morgan joining The Boys is one I hope comes to fruition.  He’s a strong screen presence and has cut his teeth on gritty comic book media with the Watchmen and Walking Dead adaptations, so he’ll likely fit right in on The Boys

If the show ends up getting another season (entirely likely given that it’s one of Amazon’s most highly-watched shows), maybe, just maybe we could get a Winchester family reunion with Ackles, Morgan, and Padalecki if the latter’s schedules open up (Morgan is currently set to star in a Walking Dead spinoff with Lauren Cohan and Padalecki’s Walker was recently renewed for a 3rd season).  Heck, get Misha Collins to pop in too, and it would be a Supernatural hit with the fans who love both series.  We at The Illuminerdi will keep you updated on The Boys season 4 casting news as it develops.
