In addition to the Open Beta announcement, Warner Bros. Games also dropped a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming game, which you can see below. The new gameplay trailer features a first look at Iron Giant for the new fighting game.

MULTIVERSUS OPEN BETA KICKS OFF THIS MONTH

Some important things to know are that the Open Beta will be available for the game on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S consoles, and Windows PC. Additionally, Warner Bros. Games is promising that the title will have cross-play support and a dedicated server-based rollback netcode for some robust online competition.

The Open Beta will have 16 characters. The beta roster includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn for DC Comics, Shaggy and Velma for Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil (aka Taz) from Looney Tunes, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Tom & Jerry, Jake the Dogg and Finn the Human from Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Garnet from Steven Universe, The Iron Giant from The Iron Giant, and a new original creature called Reindog.

There will also be multiple gameplay modes to sample, including 2 vs. 2 team-based cooperative mode, one-on-one matchups, 4-player free-for-all, co-op vs. A.I., matchups, custom online lobbies, The Lab practice mode, tutorials, and local play matches that will support up to four players.

Chances are, there isn’t going to be a Batman vs. Game of Thrones movie anytime soon. So this game will be the only way fans can get some crazy fights and encounters with the most obscure crossover they can imagine. As this is Warner Bros. Games’ answer to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., it appears all the WB-owned characters and properties can have a presence here, and that will create countless hours of fun and possibilities for players.

For instance, The Iron Giant gets to meet or even fight his idol, Superman. Wonder Woman can match up against Arya Stark. The possibilities for this game look endless. It will also be interesting to see what characters WB Games will add to the roster later on. Considering all the characters and properties under the Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella, it will be exciting to see what the developers come up with.
