Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the latest installments of the popular game series. The game is set in the Paldea region, focusing on three different adventures.
Players are tasked with treasure hunts by Director Clavell, the director of the school you will be attending. Players can also choose the path of beating the gym leaders of the region. There is a major different with these games, however. The gyms can be beat at no particular order. Their levels will not scale based on your own, so be careful if you try to beat the more difficult gyms first.

Speaking of gym leaders, we got a look at one of them during yesterday’s trailer release. Grusha, the ice type gym leader, used to be a professional snowborder. His signature Pokémon is the brand new “Cetitan”, a bipedal whale with spikes on its head. There were other brand new Pokémon announced during the trailer as well. The pastry-dog Pokémon Fidough was one of them.
This tiny puppy Pokémon is a fairy-type and it has “Own Tempo” as an ability. Another “new” Pokémon is the Paldean Wooper. Unlike the one we find in Johto, this Wooper is a poison and ground type. We can immediately see the difference in the body color which is now brown and purple instead of the blue. It is not known if Wooper will evolve into a version of Quagsire, or if it’ll be a brand new Pokémon.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Introduce A New Battle Mechanic
As expected, this new Pokémon game brings a brand new mechanic called the Terastral phenomenon. When a Pokémon uses this mechanic, they will glow and a Tera Jewel will appear on their head. The way that a Pokémon looks under this new phenomenon will depend on the type of the Tera Orb, and it’ll greatly improve the strength of a Pokémon’s move that is the same type of the jewel. Every single Pokémon in the game will have a Tera type, allowing the player to make all sorts of combinations to give an edge in battle.
A new addition to the games is how the box-art Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon interact with the protagonist. For the time first time in the franchise, trainers will receive the legendary Pokémon early into their game progress. Koraidon and Miraidon will serve as a companion that won’t be catchable until late game. Just like we got ride Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Scarlet & Violet legendaries will serve as your travel companions, allowing you to travel faster by land, air, or sea.
IT’S ALMOST TIME TO CATCH’EM ALL!
There’s still plenty more information left to be discovered until the games release in November. We are likely to get another trailer showing the starting Pokémon evolutions, although leaks have revealed their final types, more brand-new creatures, and a few more details on the main story line. According to Khu, a known and accurate leaker in the community, we’ve already met the villain of the story.
Khu also revealed that old and forgotten Pokémon like Primeape, Dunsparce, Girafarig, and Bisharp will get new evolutions. While Some Pokémon will be receiving a “fake” version of themselves like Diglet and Seel.
