The trailer begins with Dr. Beverly Crusher in a cargo hold brandishing a phaser rifle while unknown enemies appear to converge on her location. Picard opens a package that contains his TNG era comm badge while we hear a Voice Over: “This message is for Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, we need your help.” An energy blast takes out Starfleet Headquarters and Picard gets the old gang together to go on one more mission.

Seven has now joined Starfleet and is in command of the Titan. As you may know, the Titan has recently appeared in Lower Decks under the command of one William Riker. One thing that stood out about the ship we see in the trailer is that it is noticeably different than the Titan we see in Lower Decks, as you can see in the below image. We know Lower Decks takes place in/around 2380 and Picard Season 3 is somewhere around 2401, so I don’t think there’s any shenanigans going on here, it’s more than likely just a completely different ship.

Picard Season 3 reunites Picard, Riker, Troi, Geordi, and Worf, as Data’s story came to an end in Season 1, it’s unlikely he’ll be making an appearance, but fret not, Brent Spiner will be appearing as an “old new character”. . . or at least that’s how it was stated at SDCC. We’ve been told that these are more than just cameos and the trailer seems to confirm that our OG bridge crew is in for an adventure. Aside from Brent Spiner’s absence, we also didn’t see anything from our dear friend Q. We know John de Lancie has shot scenes for the new season, but we don’t have any clues as to his level of involvement.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 premieres on February 16th, 2023 on Paramount Plus.
