During our The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 Interview, we learned that the Critical Role team wants to bring the franchise into breakfast cereals.

Season 2 of The Legend of Vox Machina will soon grace the world with its incredibly raunchy and astoundingly heartfelt story via Prime Video. Fans of the Critical Role and Season One of the series can expect more and better from the wildly popular and critically acclaimed animated series. Whether you’re new to the franchise, or a long-time fan, the series has more than enough to entertain and capture audiences for the long haul. As can be attested by fans who followed the story and the characters from the live-streamed sessions, to the comic books, and now to the animated series.

Considering the wide adoration from fans and critics alike. It seems inevitable that Critical Role will bring The Legend of Vox Machina into other mediums. The cast/founders/producers are all well-versed performers in their own rights, with a lot of video game experience, so video games seem to be a natural step. But rather than hear us explain, check out our interview with Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, and Taliesin Jaffe, to hear from Critical Role founders themselves on where they would like the franchise to go next. The answers are hilariously unexpected.

The Illuminerdi: We have the animated series, we have the livestream, we have the comic books, what is the next medium with Critical Role/Legend of Vox Machina?

Travis Willingham: I don’t even know. We kind of joke about it all the time. Anything we sort of muse about, it kind of ends up showing itself… in different periods of time. We’re all video game fans, so there’s always an interactive possibility for something like that. It really just comes down to how much time we have. Because we’ve made this a full-time job between the various shows, the publishing, the comic books, and everything like that.

But as long as people continue to enjoy the stories that we’re telling. We’re also not in a crazy rush. There’s a sort of natural progression to some of these things. And I think the animated series [The Legend of Vox Machina] is a perfect entry point for that. So we want to strive for excellence in that and keep delivering those stories to completion. And if we can do that, man I think they’ll be really happy. Whatever happens next, I think, will probably inform itself at that point.

Ashley Johnson: Here, here.

Matthew Mercer: BREAKFAST CEREAL!

From the enthusiastic reaction among everyone in the interview, breakfast cereal seems like it would be a very welcomed opportunity. As Travis Willingham said, “Anything we sort of mus about, it kind of ends up showing itself.” So it is most definitely possible. Time will tell, and luckily they are so busy expanding there is no immediate rush for new content. Though, the only way to make Season 2 any better is to be able to enjoy it with some on-brand cereal.

The Legend of Vox Machina Premieres January 20, 2023, exclusively on Prime Video.
