Hello again Ranger Nation, as always, we’re ready to talk about Power Rangers. For the past few weeks, we have been delivering news for Cosmic Fury, now it’s time to switch things up as we deliver exclusive news about the highly anticipated 30th-anniversary special, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always.
The Illuminerdi can now exclusively reveal the global crisis that calls three generations of MMPR to action.
Spoiler Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always as well as previous seasons. If you do not wish to be spoiled come back to this article at a later date.
As some of you may know, veteran Rangers; Billy Cranston, Zack Taylor, Rocky Desantos, and Kat Hillard, alongside the late Trini Kwan’s daughter Minh Kwan, must don their Mighty Morphin powers to save the world from a new robotic version of Rita in the midst of a global crisis. The Rangers aren’t alone in their endeavor as they’re assisted by a new Alpha and former Rangers; Adam Park and Aisha Campbell, now members of a mysterious SPD-affiliated organization known as SPA.
It wasn’t known what the global crisis was until now as The Illuminerdi can reveal that Robo Rita has been capturing Rangers all across the world, stealing their powers, turning them into figurines, and keeping them like they’re her trophies.
Robo Rita Is On The Hunt For All Power Rangers
Eagle-eyed fans may have spotted the figurines in the promotional image and may have believed them to be Ranger keys, but they’re not. In a cruel fate, they’re revealed to be actual Power Rangers victimized by Robo Rita in her horrifying scheme.
Ever since Zordon’s sacrifice in In Space, Rita Repulsa was freed from her evil ways. Years later, we see her resurface as the Mystic Mother in Mystic Force, being a magnificent force for good. We haven’t seen Rita in the main continuity since then. You may ask, “How is Rita an evil robot now?”, the details are not yet certain, however, it’s clear that this is not the original Rita despite the return of the original voice actor, Barbara Goodson.
It would seem that “Robo Rita” is a robotic clone of Rita Repulsa with all her memories and wicked ways intact, so understandably she would execute a grand plan for revenge against the Rangers and everything Zordon stood for. How “Robo Rita” came to be is another story we won’t find out until we see the 30th-anniversary special on Netflix.
The Legacy of Power Rangers
Power Rangers is celebrating 29 continuous years on the air, making it one of the longest-running kids’ live-action series in television history, with more than 900 episodes aired to date. Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series has a worldwide fan base and legacy. It celebrates its 29th overall season with a new season of Power Rangers Dino Fury, airing now exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. Coming in 2023, kids, families, and fans can celebrate Power Rangers’ 30th year with the premiere of the 30th overall season, Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, and the anniversary special, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once And Always.
