During the GotG Vol 3 press conference, moderator Nathan Fillion asked Producer and Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, about what impresses him and what he’s learned from working with James Gunn.

Nathan Fillion: Kevin. Thank you. Thank you for everything.
Everything you’ve done, everything you’ve been putting together is very exciting.
What has impressed you? What has this trilogy impressed upon you? Working with James, seeing his vision, watching this come to fruition and the fans’ reaction. What are you learning?

You know, we’ve had trilogies before. We’ve had a number of them actually. And I was thinking, why does this feel so different in so much of a passage of some sort? And it’s because it was, Guardians really was the first movie that was completely outside the realm.
It tied in with Thanos and Infinity Stones. But the Avengers were not in it.
And then we weren’t setting up Tony Stark’s next adventure or Captain America.

And it was really our attempt of saying:
We don’t want to do a superhero.
We don’t want to just do superhero movies.
We don’t want to just do Iron Man movies or Avengers movies.
And we wanted to do, as James said earlier, a big space movie.

So, and it worked in a crazy way. It worked entirely because of James Dunn.
So it does feel like this trilogy, and James writing and directing all three of them,
it represents something unique within the pantheon of the MCU that I’m very proud of.

The Guardians will always have a special place in the MCU and in the hearts of the fans. While they were integral to the events of Infinity War, Endgame, and even Thor, they were always their own team. While it is sad to see their journey come to an in end, it does so beautifully and delivers on every front.

Professional Nerd | Amateur Human | Creative/Content Director The best way to describe Kevin Fenix is the kid you never tell what the buttons do in video games so you have a chance to win. Being 6’ 4” and Asian, he never really fit in, so he got comfortable standing out. Not only is it easy to find him in crowds, he dabbles in the culinary arts, does a little stand up and improv, and can honestly say Spider-Man is the Jesus-like influence of his life. Kevin Fenix loves dogs, movies, television, comics, comedy, and to shoot people… with video.
