Monstrous New Yu-Gi-Oh! May/June 2023 Releases

Check out the three new booster sets coming to the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game

Duelists, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG) championship season is about to arrive, and Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) is gearing up to release not one, not two, but three booster sets to shake up the competition. Let’s take a closer look at what’s in store.

Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Cyberstorm Access Booster Packs

The Cyberstorm Access Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booster set contains a total of 100 cards: 50 Commons, 26 Super Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, and 10 Secret Rares. Each booster pack has 9 cards: 1 Foil card and 8 Commons. MSRP: $4.49 per 9-card pack.

First up is Cyberstorm Access, which will be available on May 5. This Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG set continues the saga of Visas Starfrost, exploring a planet where Synchro Summons reign supreme! With the help of cards from past themes like “Scareclaw,” “Tearlaments,” and “Kashtira,” these monsters work together to defend your Life Points and flood the field with Synchro Materials. The centerpiece of the strategy is a Level 10 Synchro Monster with 3000 ATK and DEF, which can gain extra attacks if extra Tuner monsters are used for its Synchro Materials.

If this stalwart Synchro is defeated, its effect will revive key monsters to keep your set-up strong. Additionally, a new Fusion Monster armed with 3000 ATK and immunity to battle will be introduced. To summon it, simply banish Visas Starfrost and any monster with 1500 ATK and 2100 DEF from your field or Graveyard. It will destroy a monster of your choice and steal half of the destroyed monster’s Attack and Defense Points!

The second debut theme in Cyberstorm Access is a peculiarly powerful Pendulum strategy, all revolving around the dreamscape of one solitary sleeper. Play it to your Pendulum Zone and this Level 1 LIGHT Fairy dreams up a Continuous Spell from the theme’s arsenal, then drifts off into your Extra Deck.

When the card returns to the reality of your Monster Zones, it will banish countless cards from your opponent’s field or Graveyard, but to get the card there, you will need to empty your entire Extra Deck! Along the way, you will also Special Summon Level 10 nightmares to defend your dreamworld.

But that’s not all. Cyberstorm Access also includes a Level 4 Tuner that’s treated as both a “Dogmatika” and “Despia” card, and another “Albion” Fusion appears too. More Bystial Dragons will also be introduced, including a deadly Level 10 Synchro Monster. The Superheavy Samurai are back as well, with a new overlord that’s a gigantic Level 12 Synchro Monster with 4000 DEF.

Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Wild Survivors Booster Packs

The Wild Survivors Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booster set includes 60 cards total: 35 Rares, 15 Super Rares, and 10 Ultra Rares. In addition, 15 cards are also available as showstopping Collector’s Rare variants. Each booster pack contains 7 cards: 1 Foil card and 6 Rares. MSRP: $4.49 per 7-card pack

This Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG set introduces some crazy themes that are bound to blow your mind with Wild Survivors on June 2. Get ready for a theme filled with delicious Rituals along with a band of lightning-quick vanquishers. And if you’re a fan of Dinosaurs, you won’t be disappointed because the set also features some fearsome fossils that take everything Dinosaurs do and crank up the prehistoric power.

One of the exciting new themes is the “Nouvelles” theme, where you can set the table with a new Field Spell and activate it to grab your “Recipe” Ritual Spells from your Deck or Graveyard. You can recycle Rituals from your hand and GY to draw up to two cards per turn and present your opponent with a six (Level) star meal, course by course, as you Tribute your Ritual Monsters with their own effects to plate bigger and bigger threats. The boss of your back-of-house bursts from the kitchen with 2400 ATK and an ability that negates the effects your opponent’s face-up cards, and Tributes away all their monsters!

Next up, we have the “Vanquish Soul” monsters, each armed with three effects that protect your monsters, manipulate ATK and DEF, or draw you a card. These effects activate when you reveal other monster cards from your hand. Reveal two monsters with the right Attributes, and you can return monsters to the hand, destroy cards in that Vanquished Soul monster’s column, gain 3000 Attack Points, or inflict 1500 damage directly to your opponent’s Life Points!

Finally, for all you Dinosaur fans out there, you can sharpen the claws of your Dinosaur Decks with new strategies that kick off combos with cards like Babycerasaurus and Petiteranodon. You can also banish a new Normal Spell Card from your Graveyard to Fusion Summon a Dinosaur Fusion Monster, including the new Level 12 with 3800 ATK.

When it’s destroyed, you can shuffle back a Normal Monster from your Graveyard to your Deck and revive this massive Fusion! You’ll also find two more high-Level Dinosaurs: one a Level 6 with 2000 ATK, and another at Level 12 with 3500 ATK.

And last but not least, you may find one of 15 Collector’s Rare cards in Wild Survivors booster packs! Some of these include Ultimate Conductor Tyranno and Souleating Oviraptor for Dinosaur fans, and Fire Formation – Tenki for fans of the “Vanquish Soul” theme.

Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Battles of Legend: Monstrous Revenge

Last but not least, on June 23rd, Battles of Legend: Monstrous Revenge is coming out and it’s going to introduce 52 new cards to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. There are some really cool monsters in this set that will appeal to fans from all eras of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series. For example, Dark Magician the Knight of Dragon Magic is a fusion that lets you combine Yugi’s Dark Magician with a Level 7 or higher Dragon or Warrior to deal piercing damage and even split into Dark Magician and Gaia the Dragon Champion when it’s defeated.

Armed Neos is a fusion of Jaden’s Elemental HERO Neos and any one of Chazz’s Armed Dragon monsters that has 3500 ATK and can destroy all of your opponent’s monsters when it hits the field. Plus, it can gain an ability that lets you tribute it to special summon any Elemental HERO Fusion Monster when it destroys an opposing monster in battle.

Assault Synchron is a Level 2 Tuner that you can special summon from your hand for 700 damage. It can help you with your Synchro Summons, and once it’s in the Graveyard, you can banish it to revive a Dragon Synchro Monster when it’s Tributed or banished. There’s also a new Spell Card called Numbers Last Hope that can give Galaxy Photon Duelists a big boost by quickly getting two materials to summon a “Numbers” Xyz Monster.

In Battles of Legend: Monstrous Revenge, you’ll also find some Quarter Century Secret Rare chase cards, which are a new rarity that’s being introduced to celebrate the Yu-Gi-Oh card game’s 25th anniversary. There are 25 different Quarter Century Secret Rare variants, including classic cards like Dark Armed Dragon and Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss, as well as a new version of Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! with alternate artwork. There are also Quarter Century versions of modern tournament cards like Rite of Aramesir, Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder, and Welcome Labrynth.
