METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER REMAKE ANNOUNCED FOR PS5

The upcoming remake has been re-dubbed as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. Longtime fans of the franchise and new gamers alike will be able to visit the Cold War Era of the 1960s and the origin of the military operative of the soldier named Snake, the man destined to become Big Boss of the Metal Gear game series.

The upcoming new game release features impressive new game release, immersive stealth action gameplay, and new sound effects to bring the story of Naked Snake to life. In Snake Eater, players will have to outsmart enemies using their camouflage, close-quarters combat (CQC), stalking, interrogating, climbing, hunting, and treating injuries.

In Snake Eater, rival nations are secretly developing weapons that pose a threat to humanity. Snake is the elite soldier who has to combine stealth with survival to infiltrate the enemy’s headquarters to stop a weapon of mass destruction, which could trigger a full-scale war, unlike anything the world has ever seen.

The jungle setting will pit players against harsh environments, where traps catch enemies and prey, and threats lurk in the shadows. Noise can also alert predators.

The new announcement trailer only offers a sample of what’s to come for the upcoming release. It reveals a look at the new graphics and environments, plus the revamped character model for Naked Snake, aka Big Boss.

If fans are worried about recasting or a new voice-over cast for the classic game, fans will be relieved to know that will not be the case. Konami has confirmed on social media “The story and character voices in METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER remain the same from the original game.” So it looks like all the classic voice-overs from the original MGS3 release, featuring David Hayter as Snake, will remain intact.

It will be interesting to see what else changes from the original game release and how much different the final product will look. At the very least, it’s good to know that the original voices will remain intact. In some game remakes, it makes sense to update the voice-over script and actors. The remake of the original Dead Space is a good example of this. However, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is one example where most gamers would likely agree that it’s not necessary.

Unfortunately, Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater does not yet have an official release date. It’s currently in the works for a PS5 release later on.
