Superman: Legacy is the anticipated superhero film that is based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name. It is going to be the first film in the DC Universe and the third installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Despite the recent delays by the Hollywood strikes, the film is still expected to begin shooting early 2024. James Gunn told fans it will be released as planned in July 2025.
Fans are eager to see David Corenswet suit up as the new Man of Steel but it looks like we won’t be seeing the actor wear the signature outfit for a while, according to Gunn.
FIRST FILMING, THEN SUIT REVEAL
When a fan asked Gunn on Instagram on when we’ll be able to see Corenswet in the suit, Gunn answered with, “Definitely not until after we’re filming.”
We usually tend to expect an official photo to be released before filming begins on films that are as big as this one. It’s either that or we would see some set photos that would sometimes leak online. It looks like there wouldn’t be a problem about this when it is being suggested that the film will shoot Corenswets’ scenes behind closed doors in a studio.

This also means that a possible suit reveal will be on track around next summer, in time for San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
Details ABOUT SUPERMAN: LEGACY
When it comes to the tone of the film, a fan asked Gunn whether the film would have a light or dark tone. The DC Studio boss responded with “It will have both. Like most storytelling (and life).” Even though Gunn has been secretive about what has been going on behind closed doors, many fans are still excited to see the DC reboot that is going to happen once this film is released.
Superman: Legacy follows Clark Kent in his early years as Superman. He attempts to reconcile his Krypton heritage while he lives his life as a human on Earth. Isabela Merced will be Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion is Hal Jordan, Anthony Carrigan is Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi is Mister Terrific and Gabriela de FarÃa as The Engineer. It has been recently revealed that Nicholas Hoult who is known to have played Beast in the X-Men prequel films, is set to play Superman’s greatest enemy, Lex Luthor.
Since the reveal of Hoult’s role, no other official casting announcements have been made. According to Gunn, he says that they are running out of characters to announce but there will be a couple more soon.
Superman: Legacy is currently set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. Filming is expected to begin around March 2024 so expect more details to be announced in the coming months.
