Hugh Jackman is 55, but he’s not going to let that stop him from returning to the role of Wolverine for Deadpool 3. The highly anticipated comic book movie recently experienced some delays due to the recent SAG-AFTRA strike, which was finally resolved. That means production is finally able to resume.

Along with that, Jackman was getting back into shape for the production. The actor shared a clip on his social media, revealing that he’s diligently hitting the weights in the gym and getting back into Wolverine shape for the film. You can view the clip he shared of his workout regiment below:

The Oscar-nominated actor wrote in the caption, “LFG #becomingwolverineagainagain.” The upcoming film will see Jackman make a return to the role of Logan, aka Wolverine, who teams up with Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), for the first time on the big screen really.

Jackman has always treated his role as Wolverine very seriously, including getting into ridiculous shape. Even at 55 years old, he’s showing impressive work on the weights and working harder than even younger individuals. Maintaining such an impressive physique portraying a comic book superhero isn’t easy, but Jackman is proving he’s still got the magic.

Production on the sequel was halted back in July when the actors union SAG-AFTRA declared a labor stoppage against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). It looks like the production is back at it again, as noted by Marvel Studios executive Wendy Jacobson on Instagram.

Jacobson wrote on her post, “This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the gifts of being back at work and watching the sun rise from set today. Speaking of gifts, these icons return to the big screen ✨JULY 26, 2024✨” It’s good news that productions that were previously halted are getting back on track, including ones such as Deadpool 3.

There have been a great deal of rumors and speculation regarding the plot of Deadpool 3, including how exactly Deadpool of the films encounters Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who also died in the 2017 film Logan. Obviously, the movie will have to work around those issues. Not to mention, the Deadpool films don’t even fit in very well with the established live-action X-Men films that have already been released. But now, the MCU has established a Multiverse, where every movie universe it seems is able to exist as some sort of variant or alternate universe.

With moviegoing audiences being a bit lukewarm on The Multiverse Saga with releases such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, Deadpool 3 will be a major test to see if MCU can still hit it big at the box office and with audiences.

Deadpool 3 will finally hit theaters in July 2024. The film was at one point going to release in November 2024 before being moved up to May 2024. Now, after the recent WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the film will now land in theaters on July 26, 2024.

It also looks like 2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Wolverine. Not only is Hugh Jackman coming back to the big screen as the character, Insomniac Games, the maker of the hit Marvel’s Spider-Man games on Sony PlayStation are hard at work at a new solo Wolverine video game. The game was first announced in late 2021, but it will hopefully arrive later next year. At the very least, we’ll hopefully start seeing new gameplay for Wolverine starting next year.

What do you think of the news? Are you excited about Deadpool 3 resuming shooting? Are you impressed by Jackman’s work? Do you think the film will be MCU’s biggest hit in recent memory? Let us know your thoughts on the news on The Illuminerdi’s social media.
