In an alternate universe, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers defeated Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, but at a terrible cost…and in the wake of that tragedy, the team went their separate ways.

Twenty-two years later, the long-disbanded team reunites to mourn the losses of beloved friends, but Zack and Billy have some unexpected information to share: Jason–the Red Ranger, who has long been operating as a lone vigilante–has disappeared.

Will the remaining Rangers be able to track him down, especially with a mysterious figure in pursuit?

Amy Jo Johnson, the actress, screenwriter, & director behind Kimberly Hart, the original Pink Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, returns to Power Rangers as part of its 30th anniversary to write her first comic book! Along with co-writer Matt Hotson and artist Nico Leon, Johnson pens a love letter to the franchise in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 that imagines an alternate future for the original cast.

Nico Leon’s attention to detail is astonishing straight away as the Command Centre is brought back dramatically. The accuracy of the artist is highlighted by his dramatic highlight on switching the Blade Blaster’s mode, but the mix of tones with colors pulse out the drama featured in the frames. There is also no speech involved in these scenes so it will be interesting to see what Johnson and Hotson have planned for the scenes, along with the following pages. This stunning imagery was a brilliant teaser and fans are bound to be jumping onto the Kickstarter Campaign before it ends forever.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return Boom! Direct Reserve Campaign will continue for 5 days, with special surprises, product reveals, and hidden stretch goals to be announced all month long! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1 will be released on February 7, 2024, at local comic book stores.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
