Spaceman, based on the novel written by Jaroslav Kalfař called Spaceman of Bohemia, Adam Sandler stars as Jakub, an astronaut longing to return to his wife and mend their relationship with the aid of a mysterious arachnid being.

“Adam Sandler’s Space Drama”, honestly those are words I never thought I would say. Then again, Sandler has been known Uncut Gems among other works that show what he is truly capaple of as an actor when he’s not typecast as a “funny man”, especially by himself.

We all know about Adam Sandler’s comedic roles in films that unapolegitcally showcase his sense of humor such as, Happy Gilmore, The Water Boy, Mr. Deeds, 50 First Dates, and The Ridiculous 6 just to name a few. While those movies can be hit-or-miss, his comedic reputation allow his rare gripping dramatic films such as Punch-Drunk Love, Spanglish, Uncut Gems, and Hustle to fly under the radar for general audiences. Based on what was seen in the trailer, I hope that the Spaceman won’t be one of them.

I find myself drawn to whenever actors or artists in general come out of the boxes they’ve been confined to, to allow the world to discover a side of them we have have never known before. It not only goes to show that there’s more than meets the eye, it serves as a reminder that people are capable of more than we give them credit for.
