PALWORLD’s Explosive Debut Shakes Monster Taming RPG Genre

Palworld makes an impactful debut as the latest Monster Taming RPG incurs a rush of players, overwhelms servers, and even flags concerns.
Palworld

Palworld finally releases as the latest Monster Taming title, with many iconic RPG game-play elements. The long-awaited game from Pocket Pair, dubbed lovingly by fans as Pokémon with Guns, finally became available as an Early Access title. Many fans have been anxious to start playing the new game, encouraged by teasers of the various monsters featured on social media. The game was also revealed to be coming to Xbox Game Pass, with an amazing number of copies sold already since release.

Palworld was first revealed on June 5th, 2021, via the YouTube of developers, Poketpair. The game caught the attention of Monster Taming gaming fans as the concept teased various monsters with the use of modern-day weaponry. More features were revealed to be included such as harvesting resources and crafting items, along with various other RPG and survival gameplay elements.

A closed Beta test was run during the last quarter of 2023, with many players looking for a way to play early. The popularity of the upcoming game also led to title releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, as well as on Steam for PC.

Palworld Explodes as Monster Taming RPG Breaks Through Milestones

The latest and long-awaited monster-catching RPG has finally debuted as Palworld goes Early Access on Steam. The game has already received an overwhelming response as the title hit a 1 million copies milestone 8 hours after release, followed by 2 million in 24 hours, but recently burst past 19 million in 14 days. The experience also surprises fans as a fresh take on the monster-taming genre as players start out crafting basic tools and attacking monsters directly. However, the sudden influx of players has also caused issues with servers, which is currently being addressed by the development team.

In addition to the popularity, the sudden rush of players reached beyond 700,000 concurrent users. The team behind the game now finds themselves in a rush to address the issues caused by such dramatic numbers, but they are working hard to ensure players get their fantastic gaming experience.

Various features in the game slowly debut as a player progresses further, with up to 4 players in the same world. However, there have been two major occurrences that have stopped the game from becoming the greatest launch for a Monster Taming RPG.

Servers for the game on various platforms have been unable to support the incredible influx of players that have entered Palworld. The surge of players desiring to experience the Monster Taming RPG was shocked to discover many issues starting or continuing their game.

A lot of work has gone into fixing and providing greater service to facilitate the overwhelming fandom that has blossomed since its release. This also includes Xbox providing support by adding to the team to keep Palworld continuing its climb out for future features.

Palworld Mixes Fantastic Addictive Features With Flagged Similarities

The whole game has players addicted to the format as the game starts every fan in the same fashion as games such as ARK and Minecraft. Starting from scratch and building up your home, equipment, and Pal collection has kept fans engaged.

The Pal system has managed to provide satisfying craft, capture, and even battle mechanics, with catching multiple of the same creature given reason by the Pals assisting with Jobs at the base. The evolution system is also a great oddity as new creatures are produced via mating, representing an even greater example of Monster evolution rather than as a level-up reward.

Whether the creators were influenced or have used too much original content, many monsters featured in Palworld look like existing Pokémon. Some of the overly similar creatures include Anubis similar to Lucario and Lamball with a lot of similarities to Wooloo. Some creatures even look like a brilliant fusion of existing Pokemon such as Dinossom, which looks like a combination of Lilligant and Meganium. An investigation has already begun into the similarities by the Pokemon Company, which will discover if there is any foundation for copyright infringement.

Palworld was a highly anticipated release since it began big teasers in 2023, but the overwhelming support around the world exceeded far beyond anyone’s expectations. As an Early Access title, it is amazing how much fans have been enjoying the game so far, which will lead to massive updates once the game can get on top of the expected range of bugs during launch. With such a huge community for the game and for its development, fans can look forward to an even bigger expansion as a roadmap was revealed to include many features before the game exits into a full version title.

Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
