TIRES: Shane Gillis’ New Scripted Series Lands at Netflix

Fresh off his much-buzzed-about debut as the guest host of Saturday Night Live, Shane Gillis has some exciting new projects lined up at Netflix. Netflix announced today an extended partnership with the beloved comedian, including the acquisition of Gillis' new scripted comedy series, Tires.

Fresh off his much-buzzed-about debut as the guest host of Saturday Night Live, Shane Gillis has some exciting new projects lined up at Netflix. Netflix announced today an extended partnership with the beloved comedian, including the acquisition of Gillis’ new scripted comedy series, Tires. Additionally, Gillis has signed on for his second stand-up special with the streamer.

Tires is a new six-episode scripted comedy series from Gillis. It will premiere on the streamer on May 23. Gillis stars in the upcoming show and also serves as executive producer, writer, and co-creator.

Per Netflix, Tires follows the character Will (Steven Gerben), a nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain. He attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis).

The new series is directed by McKeever. Gillis, Gerben, and McKeever serve as the creators, writers, and executive producers. The new comedy series also stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias. It will feature guest appearances by Andrew Schulz. Brandon James is an executive producer for Rough House, and Brian Stern and Kenneth Slotnick are executive producers for AGI Entertainment Media & Management.

Becky Astphan serves as an executive producer for the series. The show is the second production from Gillis and McKeever’s production company, Dad Sick Productions. Its debut was Shane’s stand-up special, Beautiful Dogs.

The new stand-up special will be a follow-up to Gillis’ 2023 Netflix special, Beautiful Dogs. The comedy special reached the Netflix Top 10 in five countries and spent two weeks in the US Top 10 List. Netflix also confirmed that the comedian will be performing two live shows at the 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Fest in Los Angeles. The shows will be held on May 4 at the Greek Theater and May 8 at the Kia Forum.

Gillis can also be seen as Gilly in the Peacock original series Bupkis opposite Pete Davidson, Joe Pesci, and Edie Falco. The comedian’s star definitely appears to be on the rise at the moment with Netflix picking up his scripted show, Tires, a new stand-up special, and an SNL debut, which appeared to be the talk of social media over the weekend. It should be interesting to see how his new projects turn out.
