NEUROMANCER: William Gibson’s Classic Novel Lands Series Order From Apple TV+

Apple TV+ announces new sci-fi drama series, "Neuromancer", based on the multi-award winning science fiction novel by William Gibson.

Apple TV+ has announced that it will expand its acclaimed slate of science fiction offerings with Neuromancer. It’s a 10-episode drama that is based on the award-winning novel of the same name by William Gibson. It will be created for television by Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Dark Winds) and JD Dillard (Devotion, The Outsider, Sleight). A co-production between Skydance Entertainment and Anonymous Content, Neuromancer will also be produced by Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment with Roland serving as showrunner and Dillard set to direct the pilot episode.

The series follows a damaged top-rung super-hacker named Case, who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.

NEUROMANCER TV SERIES LOOKS TO BE AN EXCITING NEW ADVENTURE

According to both creators and executive producers, Roland and Dillard, they are excited to bring an iconic property to Apple TV+. They revealed in a joint statement, “Since we became friends nearly 10 years ago, we’ve looked for something to team up on, so this collaboration marks a dream come true. Neuromancer has inspired so much of the science fiction that’s come after it and we’re looking forward to bringing television audiences into Gibson’s definitive Cyberpunk world.”

William Gibson’s debut novel, Neuromancer has been praised as one of the first and most-respected works within the cyberpunk genre and has received numerous accolades, including the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award. The novel serves as the first book in the Sprawl trilogy and was followed by Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.

The upcoming series marks the latest Apple original series that hails from Skydance Television following the epic, global-hit saga, Foundation which is currently in production on its third season, the critically acclaimed The Big Door Prize, which is set it soon debut its second season and the recently announced comedy series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson from creator David West Read. This also marks the latest project in the long-standing collaboration between Apple TV+ and Anonymous Content.

As of this writing, there has been no official word on when the series will be released on the streaming platform but more information will be provided at a later date. For now, you can check out one of Apple TV+’s most popular sci-fi drama series, Foundation.
