The new game is currently in the works for Windows PC and consoles, and it will be developed by Gameloft’s Montreal Studios, who previously worked on Disney Dreamlight Valley, LEGO Star Wars Castaways, and several other games in the Dungeon Hunter series. The upcoming game will be set in the Forgotten Realms within the Dungeons & Dragons Universe.

The new video game will bring a cooperative gameplay experience built around a hybrid of survival, life-simulation, and action RPG styles. Gameloft also indicated that players can expect an adventure heavy in lore for this epic, legendary franchise, with real-time survival elements and a campaign that encompasses resilience, camaraderie, and danger.
Speaking on the news, Gameloft Montreal Executive producer Lee Kaburis stated, “We are honored to partner with Wizards of the Coast to deliver a completely new experience in the Dungeons & Dragons® universe.” Kaburis continued, “We are all big fans of D&D and are already hard at work bringing our concept to life, including growing our team, and we look forward to sharing more details in the future.”
Gameloft Montreal Creative Director Andre Deslongchamps added, “Making friends, both on and off the table, has always been a core Dungeons & Dragons value and it is our goal, as life-long fans, to bring this experience to a different genre renowned for emergent gameplay and shared narrative that can be enjoyed by both newcomers and tabletop masters alike.”
Meanwhile, Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro SVP of Digital Strategy and Licensing SVP Eugene Evans stated via a press release, “Our portfolio of IP including Dungeons & Dragons continues to attract amazing partners as we execute our plan to grow our digital games portfolio through licensing and internal development.”
He added, “Our partnership with Gameloft is a prime illustration of our strategy. Given their impressive record building incredible new experiences with major IPs combined with their passion for D&D and vision for this game, we are confident they will create an experience that will delight fans worldwide.”

More details about the game are still forthcoming, and it appears to be untitled at the moment. Some early artwork has been released as well (see above). The game does not yet have an official release date, but it will be released on PC and consoles. It should be interesting to keep an eye on this project as it develops. Setting it in Forgotten Realms also sounds exciting.
