Following the reveal of the Dad of Steel, we now know the Mom of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman movie.
Neva Howell has been cast as Martha Kent, the adopted mother of Clark Kent and devout wife of humble farmer Jonathan Kent, who Pruitt Taylor Vince will portray.

The revelation of Martha’s casting should alleviate any concerns about any of Superman’s human parents being absent from the film. Whether or not both characters will live to see the film’s climax remains to be seen. What also remains to be seen is the involvement of Superman’s biological parents: Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van. Given that the movie does not rehash the classic origin story, we can expect minimal involvement from the Kryptonian parents, if any.
Throughout the years, many great actresses portrayed Martha with the grace you can expect from a woman who quite literally nurtured Superman. Neva Howell becomes the latest in a long line of supermoms following Diane Keaton in Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Neva Howell is known for Ghosts of the Ozarks, Fever Dreams Movie, and Burden among others. She does not seem to be a well-known actress but was chosen in an expansive search for a reason.
