BEVERLY HILLS COP: AXEL F ARRIVES ON NETFLIX IN JULY

In the long-awaited sequel, Detective Axel Foley (Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hilla, California. After the life of his daughter (Taylour Paige) is threatened, Foley teams up with a new partner (Gordon-Levitt). The plot also involves Axel meeting up with his old pals from the previous films, including Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton), as they turn up the heat to uncover a dark conspiracy.

At the very least, it’s great to see all the original actors back for the sequel, and it’s not wall-to-wall with new actors and talent. It’s also not following that typical trope of legacy sequels where it focuses on a new protagonist or character. Not to mention, it’s got the original trio of Axel Foley, Billy Rosewood, and John Taggart in on the action. Other franchise veterans such as Bronson Pinchot and Paul Reiser are also along for the ride.

Eddie Murphy has been trying to get a new franchise installment off the ground for quite some time. That includes a new television series that would’ve seen Murphy reprise his role as Foley and starred Brandon T. Jackson as Aaron Foley, the son of Axel.

Instead, it looks like Murphy and longtime franchise producer Jerry Bruckheimer managed to get this new sequel off the ground, which will be going straight-to-streaming via Netflix. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F debuts exclusively on Netflix on July 3.
