The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies anime has had a new trailer release, and the series will debut later this July! The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies has been made into an anime series adaption that will premier this summer on Tue July 9, 2024.
The popular enemies to lovers’ manga was picked up by production company Bones Inc. to produce the anime adaption. The adaption was announced by Avex Pictures back on Nov 17, 2023, during the Anime NYC Panel.

Bones Inc. was founded in Oct 1998 and has produced some well-known anime series that have become popular with their fandoms such as Mob Psycho 100, Bungou Stray Dogs, Ouran Koukou Host Club, and many more. Now Bones Inc. can add The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies to the ever-growing success of anime it’s helped produce, and fans have high hopes for the series adaptation. THE MAGICAL GIRL AND THE EVIL LIEUTENANT USED TO BE ARCHENEMIES GETS A NEW TRAILER AND A SERIES DEBUT DATE
The third teaser trailer for the upcoming series has now been released two months before the upcoming premiere, the trailer comes with the announcement of additional voice actors from the cast of the fantasy romance series. The additional cast is as follows:
- Fomalhaut- Kenichi Suzumura (Voiced Takehisa Hinawa: Fire Force)
- Bellatrix- Ayako Kawasumi (Voiced Misaki Gundo: Tomo-Chan is a Girl)
- Alcyone- Hiro Shimono (Voiced Hanzo/Lucifer: The Devil is a Part-timer)
- Spica- Nao Toyama (Voiced Ruka Sarashina: Rent- A Girlfriend)
- Sadalsuudo- Takumi Yamazaki (Voiced Colonel: Princess Principal)
- Betelgeuse- Takaya Hashi (Voiced Donovan Desmond: Spy X Family)

Kenichi Suzumura: Voicing Fomalhaut:
“Congratulations on the anime adaptation! I’m honored to have been able to participate. I played the innocent and naive Fomalhaut with great enjoyment, so I hope you’ll look forward to seeing me in the anime.”
Ayako Kawasumi: Voicing Bellatrix:
“The cute and slightly chaotic atmosphere of the original work has been delicately and carefully expressed by the staff in the anime, so it is a work that makes you feel the love for the original work. I am really happy to be able to continue participating in the drama CD with the same cast. The character I play, Bellatrix, is cool, but actually… she is a very cute character with a gap. I will do my best to act so that it will reach all the fans who are looking forward to the anime Mahoaku, and to Fujiwara Cocoa-sensei.”
Hiro Shimono: Voicing Alcyone:
“I wonder if it will be a good end… I never thought that The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies would be made into an anime and that I would have the opportunity to play Alcyone again, so I was surprised, but also very happy!! The Alcyone I play often appears with Spica, played by Toyama Nao, and the two of us tease and poke fun at the members of the evil organization. It’s actually a rare Okama character, so I had a lot of fun playing it!!”
Nao Toyama: Voicing Spica:
“I am happy to have the opportunity to play Spica once again, after having participated in the drama CD in 2015. As soon as I saw the PV, I was almost drawn into the beautiful and ephemeral charm of the white night…! I feel that the reason this has been made into a carefully crafted and wonderful animation in this day and age is because of the feelings that have been cherished by those around Fujiwara Cocoa and the fans of her work. I will also put my heart into playing the cute Spica to the best of my ability. Thank you!”
Takumi Yamazaki: Voicing Sadalsuudo:
“I first met Kokoa-sensei at the drama CD recording studio. After that, we became friends through social media and I said, ‘Let’s go for a drink next time you come to Tokyo!’ I regret that we couldn’t make it happen. Nine years have passed since then… and now it’s been decided that the anime will be made with the same cast! I’m also looking forward to the broadcast in July. I feel like Kokoa-sensei is cheering me on with a smile from above. …Am I playing the Sadalsuudo you wanted?”
Takaya Hashi: Voicing Betelgeuse:
“Hmm? There was little advance information, scenes, or lines. When I saw the picture, I saw a serious and determined face… I usually play characters who start calm but turn out to be villains, so this is the case where I’m most unsure about how to create the character. Fortunately, the sound director is Eriko Kimura, who has been helping me out. She guided me well and I was able to finish the role safely. Thank you.”
Directing The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies is Akiyo Ohashi, Ohashi is known for directing other anime pieces such as; The Stranger by the Beach, Freezing, Seven Senses of the Re’Union and more. Series composition/screenwriter for the anime series is Ayana Yuniko, who previously worked on other popular anime series, some examples of her work you may have seen include Given, Love and Lies, Flip Flappers, and the more recent successful series The Apothecary Diaries.

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Archenemies anime series is composed of the original manga story “Katsute Mahō Shōjo to Aku wa Tekitai Shiteita”, written by author Fujiwara Cocoa. The manga was first published in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker magazine from Sep 2013 to Mar 2015, the chapters are collected into three tankobon volumes.
