Tekken 8 Gets a Closed Beta Test This October!

Tekken 8 is on track for its early 2024 release. However, ahead of its release, gamers will get an early chance to check out the game with a newly announced Closed Beta Test for the game, which is arriving next month. Bandai Namco Entertainment that the game is getting a Closed Beta test that will start on October 20.

The CBT for Tekken 8 will run on October 20 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC. Players can also register for the closed beta test at the above link to find more information. To go along with the news, Bandai Namco Entertainment also released a new reveal trailer for the closed beta session, featuring the reveal of the new fighter Feng, which you can view below:

TEKKEN 8 RECEIVING CLOSED BETA TEST NEXT MONTH

The upcoming Tekken 8 will allow players to test the online versus competitive gameplay with cross-platform matching. Players will be able to compete with others regardless of where they play. Additionally, they will be able to test the new Tekken Fight Lounge, which is an immersive lobby where players can interact with one another and access new features and gameplay modes.

The new Tekken Fight Lounge also enables players to set up matchmaking, communicate with other players through live chat and emotes, and experience comprehensive customization options and a variety of game modes. The Tekken Fight Lounge features four distinct areas called the Battle Area, the Customization Shop, the Tekken Dojo, and the Beach Area.

The Tekken Lounge will eventually feature the return of Tekken Ball, the beloved mini-game that first appeared in Tekken 3. In Tekken Ball battles are fought on a beach volleyball court. Additionally, the upcoming CBT will let gameplay testers try out the features in the Battle Area and Customization Shop. However, the Tekken Ball minigame will not be available during the CBT. Bandai Namco revealed that more features on the Tekken Fight Lounge will be revealed later on.

As far as fighters for the CBT, it will feature 19 characters, along with many fan favorites for the franchise. Fighters for the CBT include Jin, Kazuya, Jun, Paul, Law, King, Lars, Jack-8, Xiaoyu, Nina, Leroy, Lili, Asuka, Hwoarang, Bryan, and Claudio. Meanwhile, new fighters joining the roster for the CBT will be Azucena, Raven, and the newly announced Feng will join the playable roster.

The CBT will have a variety of stages to highlight the rich detail and dynamic sets in the game. Players will likely recognize some of the environments from the various gameplay and character reveal trailers that have been released previously, including the Urban Square (Evening), Yakushima, Rebel Hangar, Sanctum, Arena, and Ortiz Farm. Also, a new stage has been added since the earlier Closed Network Test.

Gamers will not need an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription to take part in the CBT. Players who previously took part in the Tekken 8 Closed Network Tests in June 2023 and downloaded the build will also be able to play the upcoming Closed Beta Test after an update.

Players will have until Oct. 11 at 8:00 a.m. BST to register for the CBT. On Oct. 18, selected testers will be notified and receive their download codes for the CBT at 8:00 a.m. BST. On Oct. 20, BST, the CBT will begin. This will be closed by downtime for the CBT for server maintenance. The CBT will run until Oct. 23 at 9:00 a.m. BST.

It looks like Tekken 8 is coming along nicely, and this looks like it will be one of the most action-packed games yet. The CBT looks like it will be a great way for players to get an early look at the game ahead of the upcoming launch.

The CBT also looks like it will have a nice amount of characters to choose from, and all the new user features look very interesting between the crossplay, the Tekken Lounge, etc. Based on the new footage and features, it looks like Tekken fans will have a lot to be excited about in the coming year.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Studios’ Tekken 8 is due out on Jan. 26, 2024. The game is due to arrive as a multi-platform release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC via Steam.
