This is the moment we have all been waiting for. The PlayStation 5 has finally been revealed along with a whole slew of launch titles and upcoming releases for the system.

If you missed the stream don’t worry, we at The Illuminerdi are here to give you the rundown of some of the biggest reveals!

Grand Theft Auto 5 – Expanded and Enhanced

Sony opened the show with a reveal that shocked absolutely no one, GTA 5 will be available on the PS5.

In the reveal trailer, it was said that this version of GTA 5 will be expanded and enhanced. It is not currently known to what extent the game will be expanded and enhanced. It is also is unknown if these expansions will only apply to GTA Online or if fans will finally be getting the single-player expansion we have been asking for for years.

Speaking of GTA Online it was stated that GTA Online will be available for free in the first three months of the game’s release. This deal will be exclusive to PS5 owners.

GTA 5 is set to release on the PlayStation 5 during the second half of 2021.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Now, this is what I’m talking about! Insomniac Games did not disappoint when Spider-Man was released on the PS4 back in 2018. Now it looks they will be finally following up with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

It is currently unclear on if this is supposed to be a full sequel to the 2018 game or if this is just going to be a spin-off to hold us over until Spider-Man 2. Either way, this reveal of course has us pumped!

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to release on the PlayStation 5 in Holiday 2020.

Some Familiar PlayStation Franchises Return

Sony knows that the Xbox Series X won’t be the only competition for the PS5. The Nintendo Switch is absolutely killing it so Sony needs some big franchise to compete with Nintendo’s kid audience and I think Ratchet and Clank as well as Sackboy is just what the doctor ordered.

Starting off with Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, this seems like another classic Ratchet and Clank adventure with an inter-dimensional twist! The trailer shows our titular characters getting separated before a new hero appears…

This trailer was no doubt to show off the PlayStation 5’s new SSD showing the characters teleporting through dimensions seemingly with little to no transitions in between. I definitely cannot wait to see how else this will be used in future PS5 titles.

Moving on to Sackboy A Big Adventure we see the fan-favorite character from the Little Big Planet series in a whole new world as series seems to shift to being more of a 3D-platformer somewhat akin to Super Mario Odyssey.

There is currently no official release date for these titles.

Hitman III

Set to end the trilogy, it was revealed that Hitman III will be coming to the PlayStation 5!

The Hitman franchise initially started back in 2000 with Hitman: Codename 47 but was rebooted in 2016 with Hitman. Since then the Hitman games have had a more episodic approach that is set to end with Hitman III.

Hitman III is set to release in January of 2021.

Resident Evil Village

The rumors are true! Resident Evil 8 is coming to PlayStation 5!

This title seems to be a change of form for the series as from the looks of it Resident Evil Village will be a direct successor to Resident Evil 7 feature the characters Ethan and Mia from the previous game.

Resident Evil Village is set to release in 2021.

Horizon Forbidden West

The anticipated sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn is finally arriving in the form of Horizon Forbidden West!

The sequel will pick up where the last left off following Aloy continuing the solve the mystery on the catastrophe that ended the world.

There is currently no official release date for Horizon Forbidden West.

The PlayStation 5 Console

Ah yes the moment I’m sure the majority of people were waiting for. The PlayStation 5 console itself.

The PlayStation 5 console has a sleek futuristic look that fans are either going to love or hate. The console will come in two models, one with a disk drive and an all-digital model which will presumably come with a smaller price tag.

The DualSense controller was also shown which of course we have already seen, however, it was shown with a charging station so maybe that will be included with the console. Also shown off was an HD Camera that is giving me intense Kinect flashbacks and a Pulse 3D wireless headset. The most interesting of the accessory reveals was the media remote which I guess will be used for streaming. Personally, I think I will stick to my Roku for streaming and use my video game consoles for games.

Disappointingly there was no price revealed for either of the PS5 models. This has fans understandably wondering what is the holdup with the price reveal. Perhaps they could be waiting for Microsoft to reveal the price for the Xbox Series X.
