Amazon’s highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings project revealed a first look at the series.
The picture above displays a beautiful sunrise, shedding light on the gorgeous scenery that is likely to be a staple, and a strong feature in the upcoming series. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, revealed that the show will premiere its first episode (releasing on a weekly basis thereafter) on September 22nd of 2022. The shooting of its first season just concluded over in New Zealand, a place familiar to fans of the movies that came before. The Lord of the Rings show is expected to be the most expensive TV series of all time.
The Lord of the Rings Is Back
Salke released the following statement:

The Lord of the Rings series will be led by J.D. Payne (Flash Gordon & Star Trek Beyond) and Patrick McKay (Flash Gordon & Star Trek Beyond), which both are executive producers and showrunners. On the team is also executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, co-executive producer Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Brändström, and producer Christopher Newman.
First announced in 2017, The Lord of the Rings series will take place thousands of years before the trilogy, and The Hobbit. This is most likely Amazon’s ace to solidify its presence in the TV realm.
The Lord of the Rings cast includes some familiar names like Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
