‘Power Rangers’ is on the verge of its 30th Anniversary and there is much speculation as to where the franchise is headed. One thing is for sure, it doesn’t look like the Super Sentai series ‘Lupinranger VS. Patranger’ will be adapted any time soon.
The Mystery surrounding Power Rangers‘ future slowly dawns closer as the direction that Hasbro takes slowly is revealed piece by piece. The first insight into what Hasbro will do begins with deducing the possibilities, starting with the franchise’s showrunner, Simon Bennet announcing ‘which seasons have been scratched out of the list of potential adaptations. Bennet has started showing some of the cards that are in store for the future of Power Rangers via a reply on Twitter Bennett made when responding to a fan.
Every Power Rangers fan is anticipating what the next season or iteration of the franchise will be following ‘Power Rangers Dino Fury‘. This is due to the show being the 28th and 29th seasons for the franchise, which was adapted from the Super Sentai series, ‘Ryusoulger‘. Since the next season would be the 30th-anniversary series, it will likely have a great amount of content in store, including having a new Ranger team in the spotlight if the adaptation of the show continues beyond ‘Dino Fury‘.
Simon Bennet Explains Why ‘Lupinranger VS. Patranger‘ Won’t Works As A Power Rangers Season
Fans tooks to Twitter to express what season they would like adapted next. Little did they know that showrunner of Power Rangers would chime in to explain why certain seasons from the long running Super Sentai wouldn’t work here in the State. As a result, Simon Bennet has responded to these options that are likely to be used for the franchise’s next step.
One fan favorite out of the possible, usable ‘Super Sentai’ series is the Police versus Phantom Thief themed, ‘Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger‘. However, Bennett has revealed that this will not be the next season due to political issues in the US. Bennett revealed via Twitter by responding to fans stating the issue with adapting this theme.

The conflict with these two themes does pose a problem, especially with the moral standing issues with both police and phantom thief themes. Although there are ways the show could be adapted, it is still a concept that Hasbro is not yet willing to tackle. There have been times when a theme of a show is completely ignored, like with adaptations that made ‘Power Rangers Megaforce‘ and ‘Power Rangers Super Megaforce‘. However, the response of the fandom in the past suggests that for fans, a theme is important to maintain when adapting a show.
Don’t Expect To See ‘Kyuranger‘ Adapted As A Seaon Of ‘Power Rangers‘ Either
Simon Bennet has also ruled out the use of the space-themed sentai series, ‘Uchu Sentai Kyuranger‘. This was also stated via Twitter as the reason why this adaptation is not an option for the TV show.
The space series from Super Sentai has always been the least likely choice for Power Rangers, mainly because of it’s large cast. The multi-character aspect of the series is clearly a huge factor with the limited number of episodes the live-action show has. Hopefully, this show will be adapted via another format, including comics, anime, or even a Tabletop RPG show. Hasbro is still working on what else they could do with the franchise, other than just the TV series and the movie that is in the works.

From what fans have suggested, the most likely candidate for the possible next series could be the animal cube-based series, ‘Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger‘. This is fitting as the Sentai was also an anniversary series and the animal theme could be a perfect candidate for the next installment. However, for now, Bennett has stated that the focus is on the present.
Fans shouldn’t worry as it’s possible it’s a simple case of time and place for other potential adaptation. For now, it seems that the deduction on what will come next is becoming clearer but for now we will have to wait and see. Hasbro is planning for the best step possible for the franchise, and considering the 30th- anniversary is coming, we can only hope for something big from the franchise.
