Undertaker’s WrestleMania Opponent May Have Leaked Out

Undertaker's WrestleMania opponent appears to have leaked, and it's none other than the infamous AJ Styles. Thoughts?

Undertaker’s rumored WrestleMania opponent is none other than AJ Styles.

WrestleMania and Undertaker have been synonymous for a long time.  They are two parts of a whole or two peas in a pod. Undertaker has only missed three WrestleMania’s since his first in 1991.

Undertaker Is Tied To WrestleMania

Every year fans eagerly await who Undertaker’s opponent will be for that year’s WrestleMania.  The lore of Undertaker’s WrestleMania undefeated streak added even more excitement to Undertaker’s WrestleMania matches.  Each year, fans wondered if this is the guy who can end The Streak and debated with friends, co-workers or random people on the street over who should end The Streak was part of WrestleMania

The Streak is over, but the excitement for Undertaker’s WrestleMania opponents is not. Undertaker has not been seen in a while.  The last time we saw him was in September and the last time he wrestled was in July.  However, he has a tendency to appear unexpectedly. Sometimes even through the bottom of the ring mat.

Enter AJ Styles

According to WrestleZone this year’s opponent may be The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles.  WrestleZone has also reported Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer mentioned WWE has plans for Styles to work the WrestleMania PPV.

At the Royal Rumble Styles suffered a shoulder injury which kept him out of action for a short time.  However, Styles will be at Super Showdown wrestling in the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match.  Whatever that is with R-Truth, Rusev, Erick Rowan, Bobby Lashley, Andrade.  That event will take place next week on the 27th so Styles is cleared to wrestle.

The WrestleMania card is still pretty mysterious at this point.  The only confirmed matches are Brock Lesner vs Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship and Charlotte Flair will wrestle someone for a Women’s Championship.  It will probably be Rhea Ripley, but we don’t know for sure.  I feel like we typically know a little more about the WrestleMania card at this point, but not this year.

AJ Who Is Going To Wrestle Taker?

Styles is possibly one of the greatest indie wrestlers of all time.  His name has been around since the last days of WCW. He floated arounded from small no name indies to ROH, to TNA where he made his name and finally to NJPW before coming over to WWE.  However, along the way he showed why he is in my opinion the best wrestler around today.

Everyone talks about why they don’t want big name indie guys coming to WWE and how WWE will mess it up.  However, I always point to how well WWE has used Styles. From the moment he made his debut he has been in high profile matches and almost always the best match of the night.

This will sound like a joke, but I truly believe it.  Styles can have a 5-star match with a broom. He is just that good of a wrestler.

Why Undertaker vs Styles Is A Smart Move

I am excited to see if this Undertaker vs Styles match comes true.  It will be a great match and a smart match for a few reasons. First is that Undertaker is getting old and he needs lighter opponents for him to pick up.  This also means Undertaker won’t be picked up and potentially dropped in an unsafe way. Second is Styles can make anyone look good and Undertaker can do minimal amount of work and Styles will work around him.

The third and most important reason is that because Styles is so experienced he knows how to work safely. One minor thing is the Styles Clash should not be performed on Undertaker. He is just too big and may not be familiar enough with the move to take it safely.

If this dream match is going to happen it should be announced pretty soon.  WrestleMania will be on Apr. 5. Who would you like to see Undertaker wrestle at WrestleMania

Do you think he and Styles will have a good match?  Personally if this falls through I would love to see Taker vs The Fiend.  Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments and on social media.
