One of the biggest blockbusters of last year was the Fast and Furious franchise spin-off Hobbs and Shaw, which centers around the fan favorite characters of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. It was a real box office hit, so it was just a matter of time until the announcement of the sequel.
In Hobbs and Shaw, The Rock and Statham had to join forces to stop Idris Elba’s Brixton and his terror organisation Eteon from getting their hands on a super virus. There also were a lot of rumors surrounding the movie, including one that suggested John Wick star Keanu Reeves would be the leader of this organisation.
A sequel was teased at the end of the movie, but up till now they were all just rumors. But there is a lot that they could tackle in the sequel, alongside the fact that Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart, whose cameo appearances were one of the highlights of the movie, are set to join a team that includes Johnson, Statham, Vanessa Kirby as Statham’s sister and Eiza Gonzalez. At least we know for sure that the sequel will include a kickass cast.

The Rock Talks Hobbs And Shaw
Johnson offered a quick update on Hobbs & Shaw 2 during an Instagram Live Q&A. The actor confirmed that “We are developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie, and I’m pretty excited about it.” He went on to say he and the rest of the Hobbs & Shaw team “Just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go” before thanking fans around the world for making the first movie “a huge success.”
While these are exciting new we probably have to wait a while until the movie comes out, because of the current situation movie can’t be made and get delayed, like Fast9 which was supposed to arrive late may but got delayed till next year, when Fast and Furious 10 were supposed to get released. If they delay this movie a year than it would arrive 2022 and looking at the fact that there is one Fast and Furious movie a year, Hobbs and Shaw 2 would potentially be released in 2023.
