After years of constant teases and rumors, Bruce Wayne has finally shown up in the season finale of Batwoman! Sort of…

The season finale of Batwoman wasn’t the finale that the producers necessarily had planned, due to COVID-19 pandemic shutting the production down. However, the season finale gave fans something to look forward to with a very interesting Bruce Wayne tease at the end of the episode.

The season finale ends with Alice surgically attaching a new face to Tommy Elliot, Bruce’s former childhood friend, and now the villain known as Hush. The new face given to Elliot is the face of the Dark Knight himself Bruce Wayne being portrayed by Warren Christie!

Warren Christie is known for his appearances in The Resident and The Village. Interestingly, Christie has also made an appearance on fellow Arrowverse show Arrow. He portrayed Dr. Carter Bowen, a renowned neurosurgeon, grandmaster in chess, and an acclaimed author in Star City. He’s the son of Janice Bowen and an old acquaintance of the Queen family.

It’s likely that his appearance in Arrow will have no effect on his appearances as Bruce Wayne/Hush, as there have been plenty of recasts and double castings in the Arrowverse before. Additionally, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” kind of reset a lot of the canon, so it’s possible that some of the events that happened during the crossover could explain this apparent doppelganger.

Bruce Wayne in Batwoman Season 2?

It seems that the season finale is teasing that Tommy Elliot/Hush will be masquerading as Bruce Wayne himself and will be using the face of Wayne, to commit various crimes as the billionaire. This will force Kate to take him down.

It could also be possible that the real Bruce Wayne will show up as Batman near the end of Season 2 to take down Hush. He could then reclaim his name and solidify his role as a recurring character in the series.

Bruce Wayne potentially having a role definitely has fans like me excited for what this could mean for the future of the Arrowverse. It could be possible that Batman could make future appearances in other shows besides Batwoman. His connections to Clark and the Justice League in the comics point to series such as The Flash and Superman & Lois. A form of the League was seemingly formed at the end of Crisis on Infinite Earths,” so it’s possible he could even join them in future crossovers.

Kevin Conroy previously played a version Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Arrowverse, who was an older/darker version of the character from Earth-99. This version of the character was killed by Kate Kane/Batwoman after Bruce attempted to kill Kara Danvers/Supergirl, thinking she’s too powerful to walk the Earth.

Batwoman Season 2 premieres on The CW in January 2021. What are your thoughts on the Batwoman season finale? Do you think that Bruce Wayne will be fully revealed in Season 2?
