7500 is an action-thriller-drama film directed by Patrick Vollrath, this is his directorial feature-length film debut, and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the lead. This Amazon original movie had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival on August 9, 2019 and received a good response from critics.

The official plot synopsis is: A pilot’s aircraft is hijacked on a flight from Berlin to Paris by terrorists. The screenplay is by Patrick Vollrath and Senad Halilbasic and it is produced by Maximilian Leo and Jonas Katzenstein. Vollrath made a solid feature-length debut with 7500.

The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception), Aylin Tezel (Breaking Horizons), Max Schimmelpfe (Dark), Aurélie Thépaut (Only Lovers Left Alive), Murathan Muslu (Cold Hell), Paul Wollin (Dogs of Berlin), and Carlo Kitzlinger.

This R-rated movie outlines human behavior and reactions in extreme situations and instills anxiety by its tense story carrying its audience from smooth takeoff to sudden terror in an admiring way without exactly taking pleasure in it.

Wasp Network

Wasp Network is a drama film written and directed by Olivier Assayas (Personal Shopper). Based on Fernando Morais’ book, The Last Soldiers on the Cold War, it tells the story of Cuban spies in American territory during the 1990s.

It follows a Cuban airplane pilot René Gonzalez steals a plane and flies to Miami, Florida to start a new life, leaving his wife and daughter in Havana. Other Cuban defectors soon follow and start a spy network. Their mission is to infiltrate violent anti-Castro organizations responsible for terror attacks on the island.

It stars Édgar Ramírez (Jungle Cruise), Penélope Cruz (Pain & Glory), Wagner Moura (Sergio), Ana de Armas (Knives Out), Leonardo Sbaraglia (Wild Tales), and Gael García Bernal (Coco). The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 1, 2019 and multiple other festivals. Later Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the film. However, it didn’t receive much praise at the festivals but said it was quite entertaining and that the cast was gorgeous and the filmmaking style leaves the viewers gratified.

Nobody Knows I’m Here

Nobody Knows I’m Here is a Netflix drama film directed by Gaspar Antillo, this is his directorial feature-length film debut. It is produced by Juan de Dios Larraín and Pablo Larraín. It stars Jorge Garcia (Lost), Luis Gnecco (The Two Popes), Millaray Lobos (Medea), Solange Lackington (Brujas), and Nelson Brodt (Juana Brava).

The story follows Memo (Jorge Garcia) who has spent the last fifteen years in a secluded cabin in southern Chile, far from the gaze of the audience that he once dreamed of having as a pop star. Martita listens to him sing and believes that it is time for his talent to be known. She records it and posts the video. When this goes viral, it reveals Memo’s past as the true voice of Will Willys, a mythical pop singer, as well as a dark event that forced him to hide from the world.

The film is a portrait of a forgotten character hidden in the south of Chile and how the arrival of a woman changes the fragile stability of his life. The story also shows how images can sentence people’s life and alter perceptions. This film premiered in Tribeca Film Festival and now it’s coming to Netflix.

Irresistible

Irresistible is an R-rated political comedy film written and directed by Jon Stewart (Rosewater). This Focus Features movie is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Jon Stewart, Lila Yacoub.

It stars Steve Carell (Space Force), Chris Cooper (Little Women), Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate), Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman), Natasha Lyonne (Honey Boy), Will Sasso (Klaus), Debra Messing (Searching) and Rose Byrne (X-Men: First Class).

A Democratic political strategist works the campaign for a retired veteran’s bid for mayor of a small right-wing Wisconsin town. After the Democratic National Committee’s top strategist Gary (Steve Carell) sees a video of a retired Marine colonel (Chris Cooper) standing up for the rights of his town’s undocumented workers, Gary believes he has found the key to winning back the Heartland. However, the Republican National Committee counters him by sending in his brilliant nemesis Faith (Rose Byrne) and a local race quickly becomes a fight for the soul of America.

Steve Carell is known for his comedy and adding Rose Byrne to the mix further rises the irresistibility of the movie. Those two make a great comedic duo. It was initially scheduled to be released theatrically on May 29 but due to pandemic it was pulled from the schedule and will be released through video-on-demand.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is a Netflix comedy film directed by David Dobkin (The Judge), written by Andrew Steele (The Spoils of Babylon) and Will Ferrell and starring Ferrell (The Other Guys), Rachel McAdams (Game Night), Pierce Brosnan (Mamma Mia!), Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast), and singer Demi Lovato (Zoolander 2).

The film follows aspiring musicians, Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir as they are given the opportunity to represent their country at the world’s biggest song competition- Eurovision Song Contest they finally have a chance to prove that any dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for.

This comedy musical might be the craziest thing that is coming this month. Ferrell doing this comedy and even co-writing this is no surprise and adding McAdams is more fun. Who’s up for some dumb fun coming to Netflix.

Force of Nature

Force of Nature is an action film directed by Michael Polish (Nona) from a screenplay by Cory Miller. It stars Emile Hirsch (Speed Racer), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), Mel Gibson (Payback), Stephanie Cayo (Club de Cuervos), David Zayas (Dexter), William Catlett (Black Lightning), Swen Temmel (In Time), Tyler Jon Olson (The Big Bang Theory), Jasper Polish (The Astronaut Farmer), and Jorge Luis Ramos (The Vessel).

A gang of thieves plans a heist during a hurricane and encounter trouble when a cop tries to force everyone in the building to evacuate. Two cops will have to team up with a rather crazy cop (Mel Gibson) and his daughter in order to stop the gang as they search for $55 million inside the evacuated building.

This is a part survival mixed with heist movie with a ridiculous setting offering lot of entertaining action. Force of Nature is rated R and it is set to be released by Lionsgate Films on digital, DVD, and Blu-ray.
