New Animated Batman: Soul Of The Dragon Movie Set For 2021 Release

The Batman is heading back in time to the 1970's with a new movie, Batman: Soul of the Dragon set for release next year.

The Batman is heading back in time to the 1970’s with a new movie, Batman: Soul of the Dragon set for release next year.

The news was dropped today by The Hollywood Reporter along with a  new image of the animated movie. The movie will be an original film that will have no connection to comic book events like previous releases, such as The Killing Joke and Hush.

Batman: The Animated Series’ executive producer Bruce Timm will oversee the production, while Sam Liu will direct and produce Batman: Soul of the Dragon.

The Batman: Soul of the Dragon’s premise follows the Dark Knight in a 1970’s setting, as he faces off with a villain from his past. The movie will feature Batman teaming up with three super martial artists: Richard Dragon, Ben Turner and Lady Shiva.

David Giuntoli, who has been on NBC’s fairy tale show Grimm and is married to CW’s Lois Lane actress, Elizabeth Tulloch, will be voicing Bruce Wayne and the Batman. Ben Turner AKA Bronze Tiger will be voiced by actor and martial artist Michael Jai White. He will be returning to the character after playing the live version on CW’s Arrow. Kelly Hu, who also played China White on Arrow will be voicing Lady Shiva.

No other details have been made available yet. However, Batman: Soul of the Dragon is expected for a release in 2021. What other characters do you think will be included in the movie?
