It looks like a film involving Paramount Studios and Hasbro has been moved from Paramount’s upcoming release schedule.
The project was set to be released on October 1st, 2021. This date had been bookmarked since 2017 which was the same date reserved for the new G.I. Joe spin-off movie, Snake Eyes, Which was set to be released on the 22nd of October, along with a Dungeons and Dragons movie that was previously set to hit theaters July 23rd 2021. The delays were seemingly happening to push the release of Clifford The Big Red Dog to November.
It looks like Paramount’s slew of movies were set to take on Warner Bros’ release of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves. The superhero movie is set to be the only release on that date now. With the premiere of the first trailer during DC’s Fandome event, the companies may have felt that the movies they had going up against The Batman would be box-office suicide for them.
Paramount and Hasbro’s Ambitious Plans
Back in 2015, Paramount and Allspark, Hasbro’s film company, reported teaming up to create a universe that would connect five brands of Hasbro including G.I Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries: Knights Of the Magical Light, M.A.S.K., and ROM. All of the aforementioned projects were on the writing table and brought top level talent to the table, in an effort to new cinematic universe.
Even with this unnamed project, Paramount and Hasbro are already working to create a new Power Rangers movie with Jonathan Entwistle. When the deal was made in 2015, former chairman and CEO of Paramount, Brad Grey had this to say:
“”Paramount and Hasbro have had a longstanding relationship, and we’re proud of the success we’ve enjoyed on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises…We’re excited to grow our agreement and make even more movies based upon these popular and powerful Hasbro characters and their worlds.”
Looks like the studio had big plans to use the creativity of Hasbro displayed in the Transformers and G.I. Joe movie franchises, to create new stories based on their properties for fans. Allspark Entertainment has been on a role with releasing films such as My Little Pony: The Movie and the Transformers franchise spin-off, Bumblebee.
