A casting call for the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight has surfaced revealing new supporting characters, according to reports from The Direct.

Moon Knight, AKA Marc Spector, is a classic Marvel Comics character who will be receiving the Disney+ treatment. The series will hopefully arrive at some point in 2022, though an official release window has never been confirmed. Only two members of the creative team are attached to Moon Knight at this time, namely head writer Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy, The Exorcist, Death Note) and Beau DeMayo (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Witcher)

At this time, there is no cast publicly attached to the project, though several characters have been rumored to make an appearance.

New Characters Potentially Coming to Moon Knight

The report from The Direct appears to add two notable characters from the Moon Knight mythos to that list, Frenchie and Marlene. Jean Paul Du-Champ, lovingly nicknamed Frenchie, is Marc Spector’s best friend and partner in crime-fighting. Comparison’s to Alfred Pennyworth are often drawn, though this isn’t entirely accurate, considering that Frenchie is relatively close to Spector’s age (at least when compared to Alfred and Bruce) and developed some romantic for Mr. Knight once upon a time.

20-40 (years old), White male. A stereotypical good looking, overly enthusiastic, less intelligent than average but still lovable. Actor must be fluent in French.

Marlene Alraune is an archeologist and Marc Spector’s most notable love interest, though I am not convinced that this casting call is for her, as she has never been a “manipulative operative in a secret organization” in the comics. While it is entirely plausible that Marlene is being retooled for this adaptation, I would wait for stronger confirmation before claiming that Marlene is confirmed for the series.

20-35 (years old), all ethnicities, female. A manipulative operative in a secret organization, capable of going from cool and tough to warm and friendly in a heartbeat.

Regardless, we can count on Frenchie appearing in the series, and now have a stronger reason to hope for Marlene. The series is slowly but surely shaping up to be something special, and if we’re lucky, it may feature some familiar names from Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Ross Marquand, who played Red Skull in those films, has expressed great interest in playing Moon Knight. When asked which MCU character he would like to portray next, Marquand said:

“Moon Knight! It’s tough because a lot of my friends have said Moon Knight is essentially just Marvel’s answer to Batman, but I don’t agree with that… With what they’ve been doing the last 15 years with the character–going into the dissociative identity disorder, really calling in to question if everything happening is all in his head, is he actually a vigilante killer or did he die in Egypt? It brings up a slew of questions, and that to me has never really been delved into in any comic book character before–the idea of, is any of this actually happening?”

On top of that, The Russo Brothers have expressed interest in working on the project, though at the time they said that their work on Cherry could make that a non-starter. Thankfully, Cherry wrapped filming last February, and no directors have been announced for Moon Knight yet. Just saying.

Moon Knight would be fun…It’s hard to say because we’re in the middle of Cherry right now. We’re on location in Cleveland shooting at the moment. But anything Marvel does is going to be special. And we’ve had such an amazing working relationship with them that I’m sure we’re all gonna find something to come back together.”

Dracula, Jack Russell AKA Werewolf By Night, Ripper Of The Hellbent, and Stained Glass Scarlet have all been rumored to play into season one of Moon Knight in various reports. Another noteworthy report about the series comes from Daniel Richtman, who claims that Moon Knight will tie into with Blade. It looks like the future is bright and full of possibilities for the developing series.

Everyday we draw nearer to seeing the adventures of my favorite Marvel character finally adapted for the MCU. I’m thrilled that Frenchie, and hopefully Marlene, will be joining him on the Disney+ series. Are you excited for Moon Knight?
