The Mandalorian Season 2 isn’t even out yet, but Season 3 already is about to start shooting.

After the huge success of the first season, fans are highly anticipating the second one, which arrives October 30 on Disney+. Recently, it has been confirmed that Season 3 will start shooting later this year, indicating that we might get to see Season 3 around the fall or winter of 2021. The working title of the third season is Buccaneer,” and a fourth season is also confirmed to be in development.

But wait: there’s more! Could the series expand past the boundaries of streaming television?

The Mandalorian Never Stops Moving

Creator Jon Favreau recently discussed, in an interview with Variety, the possibility of a movie set in the world of The Mandalorian. “The line is blurring now,” he said.

“Things that you would have only seen in the movie theater, you’re seeing on streaming, and I think it could go the other way as well. We’re definitely open to [a movie], and excited to see where the story leads us and have that flexibility–because there’s no rulebook now.”

Even The Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, said that a movie is possible:

“I think that the work is so beautiful that I would love for that to be held by a big screen experience,” he said. “But it seems to work so well [on TV] that also I’m not sure it’s something that I would want corrupted by any kind of change, you know? I mean, I certainly know that the challenge can be met. It’s not like these people don’t have the experience. If anybody can do it, they can!”

So The Mandalorian in movie form is certainly a possibility, but there is no need for it. The show is working so well, and is really so successful, that Disney surely wants to keep the focus on it as a series and most importantly a Disney+ original. After all, it was recently confirmed that Disney will be focusing more on their streaming service rather than theatres.
