New images from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder have been released implying we could see the home world of Gorr The God Butcher.

The character first appeared in issue 2 of Thor: God of Thunder, where he was shown to have turned his back on the Gods after witnessing the death of his family and being banished from his home planet.  However, after gaining Godlike powers himself, Gorr swore vengeance on every God in the universe, Thor included.

The released images are similar to those of Gorr’s home world in the comics, but we’re currently unsure of how much time we’ll spend on said planet in the film.

Given that the previous installment Thor: Ragnarok was a planet-hopping romp and that Taika Waititi is returning to direct and this time co-write the script for Love and Thunder with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, we could stop by on Gorr’s world either for a quick detour or an extended stay.  The images come courtesy of the cosmic_marvel Twitter page.

The cast for Thor Love and Thunder includes Christian Bale as Gorr, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, and of course Chris Hemsworth as Thor.  Rumors have circulated Matt Damon may pop in (marking a reunion for  him and Bale after Ford Vs Ferrari).  The Guardians of the Galaxy are also set to appear along with Jeff Goldblum’s Game Master. The film’s current release date is May 6, 2022.
