Marvel star Don Cheadle is getting his own Disney Plus series as James “Rhodey” Rhodes entitled Armor Wars and shares a new update.
In an interview with ET discussing Cheadle’s upcoming projects (including a role in Space Jam: A New Legacy and a Super Bowl commercial with his brother), the actor shared his enthusiasm about the new Marvel series, as well as a projected shooting start date:
Don Cheadle on Armor Wars
“It’s going to be dope”…. “We’re really going to have a chance to explore a lot of stuff about [James] Rhodes. I mean, you look at what we’ve done so far, there’s a lot left to be explored. So I think there’s a lot of real estate that we’re going to dig into.”… “It’s going to be just fully wide open”…… “We’re going to start filming in a couple months and we’ll see.”
According to Disney, the series will center on Rhodes’ reaction to Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame as well as Stark’s fear of powerful technology getting into the wrong hands. Armor Wars was initially a seven-issue storyline in the comics from December 1987-June 1988 and was partially adapted in 2010’s Iron Man 2, the Iron Man TV series from 1994, and the Iron Man: Armored Adventures tv series in 2008.
