Don Cheadle on Armor Wars
“It’s going to be dope”…. “We’re really going to have a chance to explore a lot of stuff about [James] Rhodes. I mean, you look at what we’ve done so far, there’s a lot left to be explored. So I think there’s a lot of real estate that we’re going to dig into.”… “It’s going to be just fully wide open”…… “We’re going to start filming in a couple months and we’ll see.”
According to Disney, the series will center on Rhodes’ reaction to Tony Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame as well as Stark’s fear of powerful technology getting into the wrong hands. Armor Wars was initially a seven-issue storyline in the comics from December 1987-June 1988 and was partially adapted in 2010’s Iron Man 2, the Iron Man TV series from 1994, and the Iron Man: Armored Adventures tv series in 2008.
We’re also aware that the character of Ironheart may debut in the Armor Wars series, though in what capacity is yet to be seen. Until Armor Wars premieres, you can catch Cheadle in Sunday’s Super Bowl commercial for Michelob ULTRA Organic Seltzer and as Al-G Rhythm in Space Jam: A New Legacy when it premieres in theaters and HBO Max July 16, 2021.
