WWE has officially announced that they will be partnering with Crunchyroll for a new Anime project.

This huge bombshell information was dropped during WWE’S first investor call of 2021, which informed fans of this new collaboration amongst other significant WWE news. There are no details released about what they intent to make for the content of this new collaboration so, it is likely the information about the project will be given closer to the project’s completion.

Crunchyroll has become an extremely renown anime streaming service that has started many new anime projects of its own as a result. With the boom in audience that occurred during the COVID lockdown, it is a perfect option for new anime projects to enter the scene.

WWE Wades Into New Anime Territory

Although Crunchyroll has this popularity, it is still a surprise to see that WWE will be directly working with them to create something for both fandoms. With martial arts anime such as Gods of Highschool, it already shows how amazing this new project could be with the brilliant way they show combat in this specific show.

Even with this project not being the first wrestling anime seen, it is the first time that an anime will come directly from the largest professional wrestling organization as it stands today. Anime has influenced WWE many times before as various superstars of WWE have shown a love for the medium with their attire. This includes the New Day coming into the ring wearing Saiyan Armor from Dragon Ball Z, Ronda Rousey wearing a t-shirt with Vegeta, and even Ricochet wearing gear reminiscent of My Hero Academia’s All Might.

There is currently an animated Rey Mysterio series currently in the works that will be on Cartoon Network. This upcoming project appears to be unrelated with the way things currently are and may focus on other big-name superstars.

Hopefully, we will find out more information regarding this new project and whether it will be a movie or a series. Plus, it would be amazing if WWE stars also are a major part of the production, but fans will just have to wait until the project is ready to enter the stage.

Are you looking forward to this new WWE anime Project? What do you think of this collaboration between Crunchyroll and WWE? Do you have any thoughts on what you would like to see in this anime? Long time fan of Tokusatsu fan since Power Rangers was first released in the 90s. Whereas most Superhero fans grew up with DC Comics and Marvel, my childhood was surrounded by releases from Saban Entertainment such as Beetleborgs, along with anime, and other various fads of the generation. Anime is also a great passion with Digimon, That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime, and Demon Slayer being significant favorites. It was the love of both Power Rangers and Digimon that led to the path of becoming a Senior Writer for The Illuminerdi.
