Deadline is reporting that Disney and Warner Bros. have decided that they will not be presenting their Marvel and DC films at the upcoming International’s Comic-Con @ Home event this year, and it’s really no surprise why.

MARVEL AND DC GO OUT INSTEAD OF COMIC-CON AT HOME

After the enormous success Warner Bros had with last year’s DC FanDome event, which is scheduled to return this fall, there’s simply no need for the company to give up any amount of spotlight which can be squarely on them when DC FanDome returns October 16th. Last year’s event featured tons of great reveals and with The Batman, The Flash, Black Adam and more well on the way, this years event looks set to bring even more excitement.

For Marvel however the reason for their absence is not quite as clear. The Disney-operated D23 convention, which in the past has announced many Marvel projects, has been delayed from 2021 until late 2022. But there had also been rumors that Disney would scale back their convention presence somewhat, and it’s entirely possible that with so many announcements as of late there could simply be nothing for Marvel to announce at this time.

Comic-Con International has announced a physical event on the weekend of November 26-28th, which means it starts the day after American Thanksgiving. Word is the event is intended to be a smaller event rather than “regular” Comic-Con, so it’s likely that the MCU and DC Films projects won’t be participating there either. But Deadline, who broke the story that they would not be participating in Comic-Con @ Home, received no official comment one way or the other about November.

DC and Marvel will however both have publishing presences at Comic-Con @ Home, and the Deadline story also reports that The CW and Warner Bros. Television will present something for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. While no other Arrowverse or DC shows were mentioned. San Diego Comic-Con @ Home will take place on July 23-25th.
