Brock Lesnar has reportedly signed a new contract with WWE which will consist of Lesnar working 8-12 dates.

Lesnar made a big surprise return at SummerSlam.  He came out to confront the Universal Champion Roman Reigns.  He was also sporting a controversial new haircut, but that’s beside the point.

This return wasn’t all that shocking if you were following us because we reported Brock Lesnar was in the midst of contract negotiations not too long ago.  We also speculated the holdup was due to how many dates the new contract would have.

How Much Brock Lesnar Do We Get?

However, wonder no more because according to the Wrestling Observer via Wrestling Inc. Lesnar’s new contract has 8-12 dates.  It was also revealed the SummerSlam appearance doesn’t count as a date because the 8-12 refers to matches not just appearances.  This contract is expected to take Lesnar into 2023.

Therefore we could see Brock Lesnar a lot or barely at all.  He didn’t appear this week on SmackDown like it was thought he would.  We didn’t get an explanation as to why he came out to confront Reigns.  It would make sense that Lesnar would be the next to challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship, but he will not be.

We May Have To Wait For Reigns Vs Lesnar

Reign’s next challenger will be Finn Balor.  It is thought the Reigns and Balor feud may continue on into Extreme Rules at the end of September.  This would push back the Reigns vs Lesnar match back to Crown Jewel or even Survivor Series.  These two possible dates for their match are maybe at the soonest because there is a belief WWE may be doing a slow build up for a match between the two at WrestleMania.  It is also possible Lesnar may want to take his revenge on Drew McIntyre for defeating Lesnar for his WWE Championship in the meantime.

WWE is rumored to have two possible opponents for Reigns at WrestleMania.  The first being Brock Lesnar and the second and heavily rumored being The Rock.

Lesnar’s return is also believed to be in response to CM Punk’s return and WWE trying to draw fans back over from AEW.  However, I don’t believe so because Lesnar’s return was in the works well before Punk’s return.  Maybe WWE brought him back earlier than they were previously planning, but I don’t think it was a desperate scramble like the internet is implying.

Is 8-12 dates until 2023 too many Lesnar matches or too few?  Are you looking forward to Lesnar vs Reigns?  Is there a different opponent you’d like to see Brock Lesnar face?  Would you rather see Reigns face The Rock or Lesnar at WrestleMania?  Leave a comment below and let us know what you think of Lesnar’s return.
