Greetings Eternians and Etherians, the original Princess of Power shall return in all her glory. She-Ra may have ended her run on Netflix not long ago, but this time Amazon will give her new life in the form of a live-action series.

Amazon is in the early stages of developing a live-action series based on the beloved intellectual property, She-Ra. According to Variety, there is no writer currently attached, although DreamWorks animation will serve as executive producer.

Dreamworks has also been behind the latest Netflix adaptation titled “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power”. This new series will mark the first time a live-action iteration of the series has been presented on screen.

The History of She-Ra

She-Ra debuted in the 1985 animated film, “The Secret of the Sword”, where she was Princess Adora, the long-lost twin sister of Prince adam, also known as He-Man. She had quite an origin story, She grew up on the planet of Etheria and gained the powers of She-Ra through the sword of protection while her brother saved her from the Evil Horde.

The Secret of the Sword spun out the original series, “She-Ra: The Princess of Power”, which ran for two seasons from 1985 until 1986 with a total of 93 episodes.

In the recent Netflix adaptation, Dreamworks cut all of She-Ra’s ties to He-Man so I won’t be surprised if there isn’t a single reference to He-Man in Amazon’s upcoming series. How they choose to handle her origin remains to be seen.
