Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Marvel Legends Line, from Hasbro, reveals some secrets of the film.

Marvel always has a tough decision to make when it comes to merchandising products for their movies. On the one hand, they want to keep secrets under wraps to help build anticipation and draw in larger audiences to the film. On the other hand, money, money, money! The Doctor Strange 2 Marvel Legends line reveals some secrets, but is so cool and already taking people’s money.

The 7 general release figures are Doctor Strange, Master Mordo, Marvel’s Wong, America Chavez, Marvel’s Sleepwalker, D’Spayre, and the Astral Form of Doctor Strange. The latter 6 figures all come with a build-a-figure- piece that can be combined to build Rintrah.

This line gives us great looks at Mordo’s look in the upcoming sequel, as well as Wong and America Chavez. But what is potentially secret revealing are Rintrah and Sleepwalker. Rintrah is an alien sorcerer who trains under Dr. Strange in the comics. However, in the comics, he tends to not wear clothes. The figure having him in what appears to be the training garb of the sorcerers in Doctor Stranger points to this Rintrah being part of Multiverse of Madness.

While it is not a huge leap to include a student of Strange in the upcoming film, the potential inclusion of Sleepwalker is as Mordo and the madness of the multiverse are already major conflicts for Strange and Wong to deal with. Sleepwalker in the comics is the guardian of the Mindscape, a dimension that borders the minds of all intelligent life. Considering the infinite possibilities of the multiverse, it isn’t a stretch to include Sleepwalker. But considering his abilities are more psychic/mind-based, he doesn’t quite fit with the story… That is unless he’s battling another psychic.

However, Sleepwalker is almost certainly not a reveal as his box lacks the movie’s logo. On top of that, his attire, unlike Rintrah, is comic book accurate. The only possible connection is how it reads “Marvel’s” before his name like it does on Wong’s box (pictured above). But all other signs point otherwise. Pictures of Rintrah and Sleepwalker’s comic book counterparts are pictures below for reference.

Aside from Rintrah, the big reveal from this line is Defender Strange. The Target Exclusive figure is named “Defender Strange” and features Doctor Strange in armor or garb akin to that of The Eternals. The use of the term Defender also harkens back to one of the many teams Strange has been a member of. With Mordo and the Multiverse on the attack, a Defender just might be what Strange needs to be. Check out the images below to get a better look at Defender Strange.

Defender Strange Marvel Legends figure from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

These Marvel Legends give us great ideas of how the characters will look in the film, and likely our first look and confirmation of Rintrah and Defender Strange being in the movie. However, as amazing as these figures look, and knowing of Rintrah and Defender’s Strange, it provides no detail of their parts in the film. Being a multiverse, it could easily be glimpses of characters in other universes. These could just be really cool toys of things that are glimpses in the movie.

Regardless, these Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness/ Rintrah Build-A-Figure wave Marvel Legends figures from Hasbro looks amazing. They are available for pre-order now and are set to release in April, a month before the film’s release. Defender Strange is available to pre-order at Target, and What If…? Doctor Strange Supreme is already available for purchase.

How awesome do these Marvel Legends figures look? What will Defender Strange and Rintrah be doing in the film? Why is this the first Wong figure from the MCU???
