The Flash Will Reportedly Remove Zack Snyder’s Films From DCEU Canon

A reliable source suggests that The Flash will remove Zack Snyder's films from DC movie continuity going forward.
The Flash and Batman

The Flash has been a point of conflict for the DC fandom since forever. There’s been a constant back-and-forth within the fandom about the canonicity of the film. Is Michael Keaton now the DCEU’s Batman? Does Ben Affleck keep that role? The answer is Michael Keaton, but we’ll get to that in a second.

There have also been questions as to who is the real villain in the film, if they’re introducing the DC version of the Multiverse (they are), and if the SnyderVerse is real (spoiler alert: it’s not, and that’ll also be described in this article).

The Flash‘s first teaser was released at DC Fandome 2021, and showcased 3 versions of Barry Allen/The Flash. At the end, though, there was an even bigger surprise. We got our first look at the iconic Batman cowl of Michael Keaton. After that, social media was peppered with nothing but questions, about who would be the DCEU’s Batman. Now, we have some information, and a lot of you will be happy with it. Some of you, though, won’t be so pleased.

Zack Snyder’s DC Films Won’t Be Canon After The Flash

A somewhat reliable leaker on social media, MyTimeToShineHello, has reported quite a few interesting details about The Flash.

Her full tweets read:

I don’t usually tweet about DC stuff, but I have a friend who has seen The Flash, and the movie will erase every movie [Zack] Snyder has done. Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman, and Justice League never happened now. Erased from continuity. Affleck and Cavill are both gone.

Supergirl is now the main Superman of Earth. [Michael] Keaton is Batman and Batgirl will become the new Batman after her film.

This report was corroborated by KC Walsh from The GWW, a trustworthy insider. His tweet read:

I’d keep an eye out, I hear a popular leaker is going to tell you all about The Flash, so prepare yourselves, it may get ugly.

While disappointing for some, it’s not surprising to see that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will be leaving their respective roles as Batman and Superman. The Flash is taking inspiration from the Flashpoint storyline in the comics, which in essence reset the DC universe and jump-started the New 52 era.

That being said, it looks like the film is aiming to wipe Batman and Superman from the DCEU, and wipe the slate clean. So far, only those 2 heroes have been reported to be reset in the universe. It looks like Shazam, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg are all sticking around – and all of them have upcoming projects. This may have stemmed from Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League being released, as it looks like only Snyder’s films are being removed from the DCEU.
