Eternals is one of those films that’s really interesting. Quite a bit of the film was cut in post-production, as exampled with a deleted scene below. And it wasn’t necessarily cut for the better.
The film’s sported a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, the first film in the entire MCU with a “Rotten” score. It’s received a “B” grade on CinemaScore – and while that may seem good at first glance, it’s not. Due to the film’s negative criticism on social media from critics, the box office underperformed to a degree much lower than Hollywood’s original projections.

On opening weekend, the film made $71M domestically. Overall, the film’s domestic run has been $164 million with an international take of $237 million. Worldwide Eternals has just peaked $401 million. That being said, it also has its fair share of fans who are excited to learn more about the individual heroes that make up the story. Now that the film has arrived on Disney+, it’s available for anyone who didn’t venture to the movie theaters. Audiences can choose the regular widescreen format or the IMAX Enhanced one at no extra cost.
Eternals Celebrates At-Home Release With Newly-Released Deleted Scene
Marvel fans can now enjoy never-before-seen bonus material including four deleted scenes and a gag reel.
In celebration of this week’s release, check out one of the new released deleted scenes below, titled “Small Talk” featuring Sprite confronting Dane in the museum about his interactions with Sersi.
Eternals joins 13 other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies now streaming in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+, which gives subscribers more picture with an expanded aspect ratio for an immersive viewing experience at home (content availability varies by region). Marvel Studios’ Eternals follows a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.
The outstanding ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, with Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena.
Chloé Zhao directs the film, and Kevin Feige and Nate Moore are the producers, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers. The screen story is by Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo, and the screenplay is by Chloé Zhao and Chloé Zhao & Patrick Burleigh and Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo.
Eternals will also be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on February 15.
