The release of The Batman is a little over a month away and fans could not be more excited for the highly anticipated film. The director of the film, Matt Reeves, has recently shared some new posters that show off four of the characters in the film.

The characters featured in the poster are Bruce Wayne / Batman, Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Edward Nashton / the Riddler, and Oswald Cobblepot / the Penguin. The posters are very dark and feature little color.

The new posters are definitely going to be representative of the tone of the film. Considering the trailers and the clip we have seen, this film will more than likely be the darkest Batman film we have seen yet.

The current state of the Batman film franchise is currently quite confusing as this film was initially revealed all the way back in 2014 and was going to star Ben Affleck in the role instead of Pattinson. Affleck was also set to write, produce, and direct. Jeremy Irons and Joe Manganiello were also expected to reprise their roles as Alfred Pennyworth and Deathstroke respectively. The film would have also been set in the wider DC Extended Universe.

Unfortunately, Affleck had to drop out of the project and DC decided to go in a completely new direction with Matt Reeves now directing the film with a completely new direction and story.

The film also no longer takes place within the DCEU. DC plans for The Batman to create its own standalone universe that will solely focus on the characters that reside in Gotham City.

However, it does get a little confusing as the upcoming Batgirl movie will not take place in the same universe as The Batman and will instead reside in the DCEU. However, Ben Affleck, the DCEU’s Batman will not reprise his role in the film. Instead, Batman will be played by Michael Keaton who portrayed the role in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns.

Overall there definitely isn’t a shortage of Batman content in the near future. These new posters only make us even more excited for The Batman to release exclusively in theaters on March 4th.
