A brand new adventure featuring Nathan Drake could potentially be a possibility in the future.

Uncharted has been getting a lot of hype and buzzed the last few weeks. One of the main reasons is that the franchise’s first live-action film, starring Tom Holland, is premiering in two weeks. The other reason is that Sony and game company Naughty Dog has released the new Legacy Of Thieves collection for the PlayStation 5.

Legacy Of Thieves is a remastering of the previous two Uncharted games, A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy. A Thief’s End was the final mainline game featuring legendary treasure hunter Nathan Drake as the main character. While The Lost Legacy is a spin-off game after the events of A Thief’s End and featured fan-favorite treasure hunter and Drake’s former love interest Chloe Sullivan as the main lead.

More Uncharted On The Way?

The Uncharted video game series is beloved among fans in the gaming community. Fans adore Drake mainly because of his delightful personality, witty humor, intellect, and heart. When A Thief’s End was released in 2016 and announced it would be the final game featuring Drake as the main lead, fans were saddened. Naughty Dog did give fans a special treat when they released The Lost Legacy a year later. But ever since The Lost Legacy’s release, there has not been another game released for the franchise. However, a brand new game could potentially be on its way or get developed.

During a recent interview with Gamesradar, creative director Shaun Escayg hinted that the developers at Naughty Dog would like to explore more of the game’s world. Escayag also commented that he believes that the Uncharted games are beloved by many. Escayag explained that:

Uncharted is about heart, it’s about struggles, it’s about complex characters and seeing them persevere, and I think that struggle is in all of us,”… “Being light-hearted and being able to laugh at certain things during these epic adventures when you’re trapped and enemies are firing at you, and you still have witty banter. That’s the special sauce of Uncharted, it just makes you want to go back for more. You just enjoy the world so much.”

“I think we can say for certain that we can never say never. Yeah. Uncharted is a franchise we love – that the studio loves. I love, and Kurt loves (Uncharted: Lost Legacy director). It’s a world we want to see more of. So I can certainly say that,”.

The Uncharted series will always be a favorite among video game fans. The series helped popularize the action-adventure treasure hunter genre never before seen since Tomb Raider. What makes Uncharted very special will always be its relatable characters and unique stories. Hopefully, Naughty Dog does develop and create a new Uncharted game in the future. With the upcoming release of Sony Pictures’ live-action film adaptation of the series, it won’t be a surprise if another game is already in talks. We can all hope to see and potentially play as Nathan Drake again in the foreseeable future.
