Dotemu and Tribute Games’ TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge keeps making us want it more by letting us demo it and announcing the original voice actors are reprising their roles!
Our very own Brendan Rooney, who is currently at PAX East, is one of the very first people to play TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge! Not only is he one of the first civilians to play the game, he geniusly played as April, who has never been a playable character in any of the TMNT beat’em up style games of the past. So he got an incredibly rare and unique TMNT experience that I am only completely jealous of… Watch him play the game and interview our friends at Dotemu and Tribute Games and learn more about the game.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge at PAX East 2022
According to Mr. Rooney, Dotemu and Tribute Games have elevated the beat’em genre. He raved about how fluid the game felt, which Fred from Tribute Games noted was their way of taking the experience and translating it to modern day. Because players may remember the gameplay of classic games being great, but in comparison to how games are now, it likely is not. The upgraded feel, combo system, and specials for standing, running, and jumping, appear to guarantee frustration-free beat’em up glory.

In addition to the gameplay, the love of the franchise is apparent throughout the game. The most obvious is with Dotemu and Tribute games bringing in the original voice actors, Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon, and Rob Paulsen, to reprise their iconic roles. The levels are also designed to play out like an episode, with little events along the way pushing along the plot of the game and a different substory each time. Last but not least, all the Easter Eggs and homages to the franchise are hidden throughout the game. Like Chef Bebop on tv, to the Party Wagon being stripped for parts. It is TMNT Love through and through.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is set to launch digitally on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this summer! The game is also going to get a physical edition as well as a digital release of its original soundtrack by Tee Lopes, courtesy of Kid Katana Records, sometime after. Attendees of PAX East are highly recommended to stop by Dotemu’s booth, #12043, to check out their and Tribute Games’ glorious masterpiece.
