MMPR TMNT 2

A sequel to the popular MMPR/TMNT comic-book series has been revealed at Hasbro’s Power Rangers panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The series followed the original iteration of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers teaming up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an epic crossover event. It also showed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers gaining new ninja powers while the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gained the powers of the Power Rangers.

Not much is known about the plot of the upcoming miniseries. However, Boom! Studios teased that things will get even crazier in the upcoming sequel.

“The first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles team up resulted in iconic moments such as the reveal of the Green Ranger Shredder, the Ninja Rangers, and the mighty Turtlezord!” said Senior Editor Dafna Pleban in a press release. “But if you think there’s nothing that could top that, just wait ‘til you see what’s up next for both teams as they face familiar faces and unexpected villains in an adventure full of the new shocking twists and turns!”

The History of the Power Rangers Teaming Up With The Ninja Turtles

The 2019 miniseries was not the first time the Power Rangers crossed paths with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. When Saban Entertainment owned Power Rangers back in the 90s, a whole slew of spin-offs were made to capitalize on the success of the show. One of those being Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation.

The series featured live-action versions of the Ninja Turtles, similar to their movie counterparts. They were also joined by a new female turtle named Venus de Milo, who is exclusive to the show.

The two shows eventually crossed over when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teamed up with the Space Rangers during Power Rangers in Space. The episode featured the evil Astronema brainwashing the Ninja Turtles and turning the against the Power Rangers. Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation only lasted one season.

The two teams of characters wouldn’t cross paths again until the aforementioned crossover series in the comics. The series was well received by critics and fans of both MMPR and TMNT.
