This theory is based on Henry Cavill being rumored to be in talks to play Reed Richards in Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
There is a rumor going around that Henry Cavill, also known as Superman and Geralt of Rivia, is in advanced talks to play Reed Richards in Marvel’s Fantastic Four. Reed Richards is the genius leader of Marvel’s first family, and also goes by the moniker Mister Fantastic. He is a genius of epic proportions and responsible for a lot of the super technology in the Marvel Universe. Richards has invented things like the Fantasticar, The Negative Zone Prison, and the Ultimate Nullifier. With the rumor and what I know of the character, I have come up with a theory. Henry Cavill has been secretly publically auditioning for Reed for years.
Follow me down this rabbit hole.
Henry Cavill as the Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic?
There is undoubtedly a lot to say about the rumor. DC/Snyderverse fans would be dealt a major blow in their hopes to see Henry Cavill return as Superman. This news could also spur WB/DC/Discovery and whatever powers that be to relock Cavill as Superman. Here’s what the GFR said exactly about the situation.
According to our trusted and proven sources, Henry Cavill is the latest actor being wooed to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we do not yet have confirmation of what role Henry Cavill is in talks for over at Marvel, we have a solid speculation: the head of the First Family, Reed Richards.Giant Freaking Robot
The talks are a very likely rumor, and Reed Richards is pretty solid speculation. And if it is true the real question is, “Does Henry Cavill really fit the role of Super Genius Reed Richards?”
In my opinion, yes. First, he’s an actor. He can act as whatever the part needs. He completely transformed into Geralt, I believe he eventually inhabited a great Superman, but he’s also been great in Mission Impossible: Fallout and Enola Holmes. Henry Cavill can act. I feel the biggest reserve most have, is that he’s sexy. He has too much sex appeal to portray super genius, lab rat, shut-in, Reed Richards. But this is where my theory comes into play.
The Henry Cavill building a PC video is actually him auditioning for the role of Reed Richards.
Henry Cavill PC Building Video is an Audition for Reed Richards
Back in 2020, unsure of the Snyder Cut and everything else, Henry Cavill posted a video of himself building a PC. Sure, he’s a nerd. Sure it was prime time to do so during the big Q. Sure he might have gotten sponsored for that video. But that does not mean my theory is wrong. However, this is a completely pointless theory I’m making up as I go along. If you don’t agree, then don’t. But hear me out.
Reed Richards is kind of a boring character. He’s really smart and he stretches. Most uses of his powers are so he can research more efficiently. They’ve tried to make it cool in three Fantastic Four movies already. But it’s basically B-roll. However, look how many views Henry Cavill’s original post got. Add in the over 5 million from Emergency Awesome’s cut, not to mention all the other repackaging of the footage across other channels, and there are millions of views watching this guy put together a machine. Henry Cavill makes B-roll A-roll.
Plus look at this picture he just posted on his Instagram. He’s basically holding the Ultimate Nullifier. I’ve compared them side by side below.
Now you can’t unsee it.
Again, this is all rumor and speculation, and the theory was thought up as soon as I read the rumor. Business-wise, it does make sense for Marvel to get a highly sought-after talent for the role. Plus he has proven he can make even the geekiest of tasks captivating to millions. It is a definite possibility. Hopefully, we’ll know for sure during Marvel’s D23 Panel at this year’s D23 Expo.
