They Cloned Tyrone Official Teaser

In They Cloned Tyrone, an unlikely trio, Fontaine (portrayed by Star Wars star John Boyega), Yo-Yo (WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris), and Slick Charles (Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx), uncover the trail of a sinister government conspiracy in what looks to be a comedic, pulpy caper. The new film is co-written and directed by Juel Taylor, the writer of Space Jam: A New Legacy and Creed II. Taylor co-wrote the script for the film with Tony Rettenmaier. Foxx also serves as a producer for the upcoming film.

In the trailer, the group uncovers a hidden lab that appears to be part of a government conspiracy that is conducting experiments on people. Now, it looks like this ragtag trio now wants to expose the hidden conspiracy that has people under surveillance by shady individuals in suits and has operatives lurking everywhere.

By the end of the trailer, the unlikely group finds what might very well be a clone. The film looks to have an old-school, pulpy vibe with its use of The Gap Band’s “You Dropped A Bomb On Me.” The image for the film also looks like it’s been intentionally made to look very grainy to add to the ambiance.

Deadline reports that the multimedia company Macro previously secured the rights for the script in a bidding war before selling the project to Netflix. Parris, Boyega, and Foxx later joined the cast in September 2020.

Meanwhile, Foxx is currently attached to a big-screen reboot of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn comic. He recently starred in Marvel and Sony Pictures Spider-Man: No Way Home, reprising his role as Max Dillon aka Electro in the film. His new vampire action-comedy, Day Shift, was also recently released on Netflix and is streaming now.

John Boyega Pacific Rim 2

Boyega recently appeared in the hit film, The Woman King as King Ghezo. He’s also gearing up to reprise his breakout role of Moses in the 2011 film, Attack the Block, in a planned sequel from writer and director Joe Cornish. No dates or other casting details have been announced, but Boyega sounded very much on board and excited about the sequel during a recent interview with Collider.

They Cloned Tyrone does not yet have an official release date, as the teaser trailer only notes that it’s “coming soon.” It will stream exclusively on Netflix later on.
